COMMITTEE DISCUSSION

The group discussed the meeting time and agreed that we would have 7:30 meetings in Feb and March and switch to 8:00 from April to July, there will be no August meeting.

TM provided the group with the estimate for electric work at the Oldwick Barn. The estimate was provided by Anton Lydner of Northern Lights Electric. The estimate was for $4750 and included the Service box, several outside light fixtures, several inside fixtures and numerous outlets. The committee discussed ways to lower the costs.

TM will check on an estimate with a reduced scope of work which will include the Service Box and one outlet and one light fixture.

TM will reach out to JCP&L to get the price for the electric drop from the pole and identify the location.

CG will review the site after getting the information form the power company. CG will look for volunteers to donate the digging of the trench from the pole to the Barn.

TM discussed the idea of having a community garden. Local towns have been successful with the Community Garden and the committee though it was an idea that should be pursued. The size of the garden discussed was 145x160. The garden would contain Vegetables plants and Fruit trees. It would be maintained by community volunteers. The Tewksbury Women's Club has expressed interest. The produce would be taken on an honor system with those who worked the garden taking an armful of produce at a time. TM spoke with Hayden about the possibility of getting Fencing from the town inventory and the building of the fence by the Public Works department. The garden would also need to have an electric fence installed. The only location suggested that had electric and water was the Bartles tract.

TM informed the committee that he town has applied for a grant for the watering of the trees from Arbor Day. If the grant is secured the town would hire a landscaper to water the trees.

Next meeting date is February 10, 2010
