The Director of Schools shall ensure that proper test administration methods and procedures are followed in order to provide reliable and valid results from both the State-Mandated achievement-testing program (Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program) and District-Wide Assessments. MNPS will comply with all Tennessee and federal laws governing student assessment security.

Consequences of Violation of Test Security Procedures

Procedures relating to Test Security are found in IMp 4.103 Securing State-Mandated and District-Wide Assessments (Procedure). Noncompliance with security guidelines for State-mandated testing procedures could result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal and loss of State license (TCA 49-1-607).

State-Mandated and District-Wide Test Security Agreement

I acknowledge that I may have access to test materials for the sole purpose of administering or proctoring the State-Mandated Assessments and/or District-Wide Assessments. I understand that these materials are secure and that it is my professional responsibility to protect the security of the tests as follows:

  • I will not divulge the contents of the tests, generally or specifically, to anyone.
  • I will not take notes, photocopy, or in any way reproduce any part of the tests.
  • I will not conduct or assist in inappropriate test preparation activities: e.g., reading or verbally sharing test items with other teachers for targeting instruction.
  • I will not permit any other person to access the test materials unless authorized by the principal or school test coordinator.
  • I understand that test materials that have been removed from locked storage shall be attended to by an authorized person at all times.
  • I understand and will comply with all test administration and test security procedures.
  • I understand that violations of test security procedures on State-Mandated and District-Wide Assessments will be jointly investigated by MNPS Assessment/ Evaluation and Human Resources.
  • I understand the consequences of violations of test security procedures, as described below in State Law (Tennessee Code Annotated 49-1-607).

TCA 49-1-607. Noncompliance with security guidelines for TCAP or successor test. Any person found to have not followed security guidelines for administration of the TCAP test, or a successor test, including making or distributing unauthorized copies of the test, altering a grade or answer sheet, providing copies of answers or test questions, or otherwise compromising the integrity of the testing process shall be placed on immediate suspension, and such actions will be grounds for dismissal, including dismissal of tenured employees. Such actions shall be grounds for revocation of state license.
