Job Title:Special Events Manager

Hours: Full-time- 37.5 hours per week

Term: Permanent

Location:Head Office - Victoria, London

Reports to:Head of Fundraising

Job Purpose:

To take responsibility forThe SCT’s annual events programme to deliver a series of special events to meet annual income targets. To use initiative to grow and develop The SCT’s events calendar.

KeyResponsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the development and implementation of the special events programme, and to work with the marketing manager to create a marketing plan for special events
  • To research, identify and develop new event opportunities and fundraising activities.
  • To set, manage and monitor income and expenditure budgets for special events.
  • Manage and cultivate external partnerships with supporters, suppliers and participants involved in events
  • To be the main point of contact for SCTspecial event queries.
  • To create, develop and organise other income generating events as and when suitable opportunities occur and/or respond to new and unplanned opportunities.
  • To recruit and support committees for specific events as necessary.
  • To research and secure sponsorship for events using charity contacts and cold approaches (in liaison with corporate fundraising team).
  • Seek prizes and gifts-in-kind to maximise profit from events.
  • To work closely with the Marketing and PR Managers to ensure that all eventsare appropriately marketed and all public relations opportunities are maximised.
  • In conjunction with Marketing Manager, to write and co-ordinate the design and production for all event materials and marketing materials, including managing the relationship with design agencies etc.
  • To brief colleagues and volunteers within The SCT of roles and tasks at SCT staffed events.
  • To recruit and manage event volunteers both in the office, and at events as required.
  • Assist in administrative and promotional support at fundraising events outside normal working hours.
  • To play an active part in team meetings and in wider organisational activities as appropriate.

Administration

  • Represent and speak on behalf of The Sick Children’s Trust at meetings and events when necessary
  • Take responsibility for own administration, including filing, thank-you letters and handling a range of telephone enquiries
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using agreed systems, including donorflex database
  • Provide accurate reports on each activity including income & expenditure and analysis of activity
  • To work cross departmentally to support colleagues by communicating effectively and working closely as a team

Reporting:

  • Take direction on projects and priorities, which may vary from time to time
  • Provide regular reports for the Head of Fundraising

Duties may vary from time to time with development of the post. The post holder will be required to carry out such duties as receiving general telephone enquiries and dealing with general office administration as befits a small office environment.
