5. / Scope of the Position: / To undertake duties as assigned as part of the EUSR in Kosovo Support Team. Political Officer works under direct supervision of the Senior Adviser on Political Affairs/North, Dialogue Coordinator, and is administratively attached to the EUSR Office in Pristina.
6. / Duties and Responsibilities: / · Establish and sustain a network of contact with relevant international and local partners;
· Provide analysis, reports, briefing papers to the Senior Adviser on Political Affairs/North, Dialogue Coordinator and the EUSR team on all relevant political developments in Mitrovica North;
· Analyze possible implications of emerging issues and make recommendations on possible measures;
· Contribute to developing policy papers;
· When necessary to assist the EUSR Office with organizing meetings and translation;
· Perform other duties as required.
7. / Qualifications and Experience: / · University Degree in Political Sciences, Law, International Relations, Diplomacy, Social Sciences or other relevant subject. Advanced degree would be considered as an asset;
· A minimum of 5 years of appropriate working experience some of which with the international community;
· Excellent knowledge of English and Serbian: both oral and written. Knowledge of Albanian would be an asset;
· A thorough understanding of the political situation in Kosovo;
· Diligent, discreet and willing to handle sensitive information;
· Creative and result oriented problem solver;
· Excellent interpersonal and communications skills;
· Proven ability to produce imaginative and workable solutions to complex problems;
· Ability and commitment to work under demanding deadlines, in teams and in a multi-ethnic and multi –national environment;
· Possession of driving license obtained at least two years ago and ability to drive official EUSR vehicles;
· Flexibility to travel to Pristina and other locations in Kosovo and willingness to work long hours.
