February 2016
______
The children have settled well into their learning after a fun packed Christmas! We can’t believe that half term is so close!!
We have many fun packed events planned for the coming term which we hope will be invaluable for your children’s learning experiences within the Preschool.
On Monday 22nd February the Fosterwells school of dance will be visiting us to teach us all some new moves! This will promote all aspects of the EYFS curriculum, including, physical development, capturing different experiences through movement and music and following instructions.
We are hoping to make this a regular experience for the children.
______
WORLD BOOK DAY
World Book Day is Thursday 3rd March. We would love all children to dress up as their favourite book characters and maybe bring in their favourite book to share.
______
We are very excited to announce that on Monday 7th March we will be receiving some ‘living eggs’. This is a unique 10 day experience where we receive embryo eggs 2-3 days from hatching. We will see them hatch and become fluffy little chicks before they are returned.
This experience will promote many areas within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, encouraging investigation, interest and care for living things.
We think the children (and adults) will love this experience.
Helen Ellis Photographer will be visiting us on Tuesday 8th March. The appointment list will be going up shortly.
______
As we approch the spring, and hopefully some warmer weather, we will be starting to plant some vegetables to encourage physical development and an understanding of growth and changes in our environment. Any donations of plants or seeds would be greatly appreciated.
As you are all aware, the Preschool relies heavily on fundraising to ensure the children have new and up to date resources to enhance their learning experiences. We will be holding a sponsored obstacle course during the week beginnning week commencing 18th April.
This will be a fun experience which will encourage the children to try new and exciting challenges during physical play. We hope you will all support us with this event…..look out for the sponsor forms!

We continually promote healthy eating through the snacks that we offer to establish eating habits that will continue throughout school years. Please support us by providing a healthy lunchbox for your child.
We would like to say a big thank you for supporting our rhyme of the week. The children are really enjoying learning the new songs.
The words for the songs will continue to be available to you to take home and share with your child. We hope you will continue to support us with this activity.
If your child is absent for any reason please can you call us, as soon as possible, on 789222. Also, please use this number if you are going to be late collecting your child.
We feel that outside play is so important for children’s learning and we try to go outside whatever the weather. Please could you ensure you child is dressed appropriately for outside play. Please ensure all personal items are named.
Please remember that we have our family fun board in the porch – if you have done something your child wishes to share with us please feel free to bring it in. We love sharing your experiences.
As you are aware, we are a Committee run Preschool. The Committee is made up of volunteer parents/carers of children from the Pre-School. Without a Committee, the Pre-School cannot open and run. As some of our long serving members will be leaving us in the near future, we need new volunteers to join us. Please see Zoe or a member of our team if you are interested in joining the Committee and supporting the Pre-School.
