Teacher: Amy Lea Date: Sept. 5-18, 2017 Subject: Math Topic: Multiplication
Standard(s)
OA.1 Interpret products of whole numbers as the total number of objects in each group.
OA.3 Use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems in situations involving equal groups, arrays, and measurement quantities by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
OA.5 Apply properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide.
OA.7 Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division or properties of operations.
MD.5 & 6 Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand the concepts of area measurement. Find area by counting unit squares.
Learning Target(s)
(based on the language of the standard) / I can represent and solve problems involving multiplication and division. I can understand properties of multiplication and the relationship between multiplication and division. I can understand concepts of area and relate area to multiplication and to addition.
Procedures (with general times) /
  • Prior knowledge
Groups of numbers, addition
  • Activities/Centers
Flashcards, nonfiction reading, adding and subtracting using dice and cards.
  • Closure

Students will complete an exit ticket at the end of each lesson. On the exit ticket, students will solve problems on the math skill of the day. The teacher will us this as an informal assessment.
