Terms and Conditions for the use of the designation – WSET® Certified

With effect from 1st May 2007, holders of the WSET Advanced Certificate in Wines and Spirits (or WSET Higher Certificate if prior to August 2001) will be permitted to use the designation WSET® Certified (the ‘device’) on business cards, letterheads and other personal documentation – (these are ‘guidelines for usage’).

Any individual wishing to use this designation must request the ‘device’ from WSET by email, and must agree to the terms and conditions as outlined below concerning the use of the device.

All applications will be verified by WSET Awards before release of the device. This will require each applicant to provide certain information as follows:

1)Name - (and former name if changed since completion of WSET Advanced/Higher qualification)

2)Name of centre (Approved Program Provider) where Advanced/Higher examination was taken

3)Date (or approximate date) when Advanced/Higher qualification passed

4)Certificate number (if available)

The ‘device’ consists of the following four elements:

1)a detail from the WSET’s trademarked “Ariadne” logo

2)the words “WSET® Certified”

3)a line to separate the words

4)the word ‘Advanced’

These four elements are incorporated into an overall design to form the device, and the device must be used in its entirety – i.e. no element is to be used separately, and no element is to be altered in any way.

Following verification by WSET Awards, the individual will be sent the device, in pdf format, by eMail. Fourteen days should be allowed for verification (longer if applicant passed Higher Certificate prior to 1998).

The following rules and restrictions will apply:

The designation is strictly for the personal use of qualifying individuals, and applicants will be required to agree to the Terms and Conditions of Use.

The designation will not be applicable to qualifications at Level 1 and 2 (Foundation and Intermediate).

For consistency, the designation will not be made available in translated form, although WSET reserves the right to do so at some time in the future.

The designation is not intended for use as a post-nominal.

In the case of individual holders of qualifications, the designation will apply retrospectively, for example a holder of the former Higher Certificate, predecessor to the Advanced Certificate, will be able to apply for the WSET® Certified (Advanced) designation.

Anyone found to be using this device without entitlement will be liable to prosecution, as will anyone supplying the device to a person not entitled to use it.

WSET reserves the right to introduce other designations or devices relating to other WSET qualifications at any time in the future.
