Tennis Southland Coaches
Tennis Southland(TS) invites coaches to apply for the position of representative age group coach for the Southern Junior Teams Event in Dunedin Friday 16 February – Sunday 18 February 2018. Three coaches will be appointed to coach the four age groups (U10s/U12s/U14s/U16s).
All coaches must have the ability to work with others. They must provide evidence of a clear police vetting and first aid certificate issued from 2015 onward.

Coaches will be informed of appointments by Friday 22 December 2018.
TENNIS SOUTHLAND’S EXPECTATIONS OF COACHES
- One coach will be designated ‘Head Coach’ and will provide guidance to theother two appointed coaches (hereby referred to as “Southland Coach/es”).
- The three Southland Coaches shall form a selection panel, and be responsible for selecting the strongest team for Tennis Southland for the February 2018 Southern Junior TeamsEvent, based on the players availability and eligibility (as per TS’s Criteria for Team and Rep Selection).
- It is anticipated the coaches will run at least one training session with the teams prior to theSouthernJunior TeamsEvent.
DURING THE TOURNAMENT
Liaise closely with team managers at all times during the tournament.
Keep in contact with the tournament organisers.
Conduct team briefings, warm ups and de-briefs.
Conduct a morning manager’s briefing as to playing order for the upcoming day and any game plan that is to be followed (including designating a team manager to collect all score sheets following each tie).
Organise a whole team warm-up each day.
Ensure team spirit is maintained at all times.
Remain with the team at all times, including meal times.
Endeavour to watch all players at all venues.
Encourage and give advice to players.
Take notes on players for individual coaching needs as follow-up to tournament play.
At the end of the tournament make sure you have your own copy of your team results.
POST TOURNAMENT
Prepare a written report and submit this to Tennis Southland within 7 days of return.
Report is to include:
Team and individual results and overall placings.
Comments as to any gaps/differences that appear when Southland plays other regional teams.
Mention any players you feel made significant improvement.
Overall organisation and any ideas for the future.
Any comments in preparation for next tournament.
CONDUCT
Conduct yourself in an excellent manner all the time.
Do not possess, administer or dispose of by any means any narcotic drugs or banned substance of any description.
No consumption of alcohol during the weekend.
No smoking cigarettes whilst wearing team uniform and where you are visible to any junior players
REMUNERATION
A fee of $250 (+GST if applicable) per day of theevent.
Food and accommodation are covered for the duration of the event with theteam (extra food or accommodation is at the Coach’sexpense).
Travel is covered to and from the event.
Payment will be made at the completion of event by invoicing TennisSouthland.
Training day fees - the coach will deal directly with the players/parents for thisfee.
