(Concoursd'elegance - To be ridden astride or side saddle. Open to horses and ponies, mares and geldings, four years old and over. Riders any age. Costumes or traditional attire allowed. To be judged on the overall picture of elegance presented by horse/pony and rider including appearance, conformation and individual show. NB. This is NOT a fancy dress class) ALL OTHER RINGS WILL WAIT UNTIL THIS CLASS HAS FINISHED SO THAT EVERYONE CAN ENJOY WATCHING THE COMPETITORS IN THIS CLASS. *Class will run with Juniors and Seniors together but prizes will be split*

Class 19:Ridden Coloureds

RING 3 – Working Hunter Ring

9.30 am Prompt:

Class 24: Lead Rein/Assisted Very Novice Working Hunter (Fences 12” – 18”)

Class 25: Novice Working Hunter(Fences 18” – 2’) (Riders any age. Open to ponies and horses.)

Class 26: Working Hunter(Fences 2’- 2’3”) (Riders any age. Open to ponies and horses.)

Class 27: Working Hunter(Fences 2’3”-2’6”) (Riders any age. Open to ponies and horses)

Class 28: Riding Club Horse/Pony (Riders will be required to perform a show and to jump 2 or 3 jumps of approx. 2’ for ponies and 2’6” for horses)

Working Hunter classes shall be judged as follows:

  • Each competitor jumps a course of rustic fences
  • All clear rounds (or possibly those with a few penalties, depending on class) will be called back into the ring to perform an individual show as advised by the judge
  • Competitors will then be placed according to the judge’s marks (jumping style, individual show and conformation of horse/pony – bearing in mind its suitability as a ‘hunter’ type.

Tack and turnout for Working Hunter:

  • Rider – Tweed jacket (ideally), shirt, tie, and light coloured breeches/jodhpurs. Brown or tan gloves, long boots (adults), short boots (children), approved standard riding hat/jockey skull. NO SPURS for children or M&M riders
  • Horse/Pony – any suitable bridle (martingales are allowed). Discreet numnah. Boots may be worn for the jumping phase only. Turn out according to type e.g. M&M’s & cobs need not be plaited

Tendring Hundred Riding Club Show Rules – Please Read Them

  1. T.H.R.C has taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid & prevent accidents occurring & must obey the instructions of the organisers/stewards whether written or verbal.
  2. T.H.R.C shall not be liable for any claim in respect of damage, loss, injury or accident to any person, horse or property howsoever caused. It shall be deemed a condition of entry that each entrant has read and understood these terms and conditions and shall indemnify T.H.R.C or any person acting on their behalf against any legal action arising from such an incident.
  3. All entries on the day are payable at time of booking.
  4. No refunds will be given once classes are entered.
  5. All ridden horses/ponies must be 4 years old or over.
  6. Riders must wear Hard Hats to current BRC standard.These must be correctly secured whilst mounted.
  7. Riders/handlers to be correctly turned out i.e. jacket, shirt, light coloured breeches/jodhpurs, boots, tidy hair (either in a hairnet or tied above collar). Junior handlers must wear a hard hat.
  8. All stallion/colts must be kept under control at all times & not handled by anyone under 14 years. All stallions must have red/white/blue ribbon in tail or wear a stallion disc on the bridle.
  9. All droppings to be picked up.
  10. All dogs must be kept on leads and all dog mess cleaned up.
  11. All children under the age of 16 years must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
  12. *All rubbish/litter to be removed from showground or placed in bins provided.*
  13. Please read the schedule carefully.
  14. Classes may be split or amalgamated according to entries.
  15. In the Championship there must be four or more competitors forward in order to award Champion and Reserve Champion prizes.
  16. Please park where directed and with due consideration to others.
  17. THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL.
