Youth DirectorImmediate Opening

Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown, ND

The primary task of the Youth Director will be to equip students to be disciples of Jesus to live on mission with Him. It is essential that the Youth Director models a healthy missional life in community and has a passion foryouth to discover their potential in Christ.

Qualifications:

1)Character:

  • Must have avibrantwalk withGodwhichhasproducedprovencharacter.
  • Must beteachable, a learner who, in humility, faces the opportunities of ministry with wisdom, grace and joy.
  • Must work well with both students and adults in a team approach.
  • Must be aware of personal weaknesses and strengths.

2)Core Competencies:

  • Mature biblical competence, using the Bible as a foundation in all ministry areas.
  • Demonstrates an openness to learn and grow in the areas of missional theology, spiritual formation, group dynamics and leadership development.
  • Proven disciple-maker, who has a heart for youth to come to know Christ, approaching disciple-making as a life-long process.
  • Strong people skills, able to relate to people of various ages and statesof life.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

3)Education and Experience:

  • At least some college education required. A college degree and some seminary training preferred.
  • Experience leading in youth ministry highly desired.
  • Full agreement with the TBC Constitution and NAB Statement of Beliefs.

Specific Responsibilities:

1)Leadthecongregationin equipping ouryouthto be missionaldisciplesofJesusChrist.

2)Provideopportunitiesfortheyouthtomeet,fellowship,anddeveloprelationshipswithothers throughgatherings,activities,andevents.

3)Engage the youth in God’s Word through study and life application.

4)Developateam ofstudents and adults(i.e.sponsors,mentors,discipleship teams,etc.),who will work togethertoachievetheyouthministry team goals.

5)Network with other youth directors/leaders (community and North Central Association).

6)Meet monthly with other ministry and office staff for prayer and planning.

7)Encourage youth participation in Junior and Senior High Camp, as well as youth retreats at Crystal Springs Camp. Attend as feasible.

8)Anticipated time commitment of 20-25 hours/week.

Accountability:

  • TheYouth DirectorhasanactiveworkingrelationshipwiththeLeadPastor.He/sheis responsibleadministrativelytotheLeadPastor.
  • The Youth Director has an active working relationship with the chairperson of the Children and Youth Ministry Team and will be a participating member of that team.
  • The Youth Director isultimatelyresponsibletothecongregationandwillsubmita writtenreportattheAnnualMeeting.

TBC is 250-member, 50 year-old congregation located in Jamestown, ND, affiliated with the North American Baptist Conference (NAB). In 2011 the congregation relocated to a new facility in northeast Jamestown, adjacent to Jamestown High School, the Jamestown Regional Airport and the University of Jamestown.
