Spring Showcase!
Our students continue to amaze us. Once again students had the opportunity to demonstrate their talent through great vocal, instrumental and dance performances. Students performed a wide variety of musical pieces for our Erin Mills community. A big "thank-you" to Ms. Mason, Mrs. McAlpine and Mme. Thomas for their guidance and direction. This year our cheerleaders also displayed their gymnastic abilities thanks to Ms. I. Stoch and students from RICH presented their work on diversity. Congratulations to all!!!
EQAO Testing
The annual provincial testing in the areas of numeracy and literacy for all Grade 6 students will begin the week of May 31, 2010. Testing will take place in the morning, over three days. Punctuality and attendance are especially important during the testing period.
Class 802 has also been randomly selected to participate in the PCAP 2010 Mathematics, Science and Reading Assessment. Mathematics is the major domain and science and reading will be the minor domains. Results from these assessments do not affect a student's classroom mark or report card; however, students are asked to do their best.
Community Connections!
Erin Mills “community clean-up” took place on Thursday, April 22nd. All students and staff were involved in this initiative. We must continue to keep our school and community clean. When we pick-up garbage we are showing we care about ourselves, our school, and our environment. Erin Mills is a great place. As a group, on April 22nd, we made a positive difference - our goal is to demonstrate this caring on a daily basis. Let’s work together to make sure Erin Mills is always a clean place!
In the month of May, students will be participating in the Hoops for Heart campaign. Erin Mills has traditionally supported this program in the spring. Please ask your child about the program and look for the fundraising envelope that went home in April.
For a second time this year, Erin Mills students had an opportunity to play a fun game against the Peel Community Police. This time the group played soccer.
Believe it or not, we only have 2 months left of school. With summer on most of our minds, we would like to remind all of our students that they must keep focussed on their school work. Our Dress Code (page 19 in student agenda) remains in effect. Parents and guardians are asked to review the student's agenda, initial tests/projects and stay informed regarding trips and special activities. There will be no school on May 24th. The last day of school for students is June 29th. Please remember to visit our web site for all the latest information on what's happening at Erin Mills. The address is www.erinmills.net (this site is currently being modified).
Let's work together to ensure we have a fantastic end of school year.

The Senior Boys basketball team played in their play-off tournament at Fallingbrook. Erin Mills faced a tough Hazel McCallion team in the quarter finals. The teams battled each other in a really close game that ended tied in regulation time. In the overtime period, the Mustangs prevailed in an exciting 32-29 game.
Next came the semi-finals and the number one ranked team, Fallingbrook. Erin Mills kept it close for most of the first half but found themselves down by 5. In the second half, Fallingbrook pulled away and won the game. It seemed as if the team was a little deflated after their exciting over-time victory in the quarter-final. None the less, the Mustangs played their hearts out and are to be commended for placing 3rd out of 12 teams.
The boys demonstrated excellent commitment, sportsmanship, teamwork and improvement. Mr. Marcanio and Mr. Milutinovich would like to congratulate the following team members on a great season: Denmar, Tarik, Taivon, Osa, Trevon, Bailey, Anderson, Jake, Cory, and Eliyah.
