Ernst & Young consolidates three data centres with TeleCity

Information security, flexibility and cost advantages the deciding factors

Frankfurt, 29September 2005 – TeleCity (LSE:TCY.L), the leading European colocation, data centre and managed services company, today announced that the corporate auditor, Ernst & Young, is to consolidate three of its European data centres at TeleCity in Frankfurt. From October 2005, the IT servers of Ernst & Young’s national data centres in Eschborn near Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Rotterdam will be brought together in a 600 sq.m. suite at TeleCity’s Frankfurt facility. Ernst & Young will continue to operate the network infrastructure, hardware, software, data and applications.

Ernst & Young selected TeleCitydue tothe high degree of flexibility and associated cost advantages on offer. “While a dedicated new-build, in-house data centre requires high initial investment, and the full benefit of the investment is not achieved for several years, a consolidation in TeleCity’sdata centre allows us to realise considerable savings, because we only pay for the area being utilised at any particular time. Our analysis of the European colocation market highlighted clear price advantages for Frankfurt,” saysSiggi Hauer, Ernst & Young CIO (Chief Information Officer) for Central Europe. “In addition, we see TeleCity as a growing and reliable partner, capable of managing additional data centre services in the future.”

Another core factor in Ernst & Young’s decision to go with TeleCity was the IT service provider’s recent certification to BS7799. The British industry standard confirms the company’s secure handling of information – an essential criterion for a corporate auditor such as Ernst & Young. “An additional advantageis TeleCity’s IP Multihome service, which provides high-quality IP connectivity and maximum resilience,” explains Dr. Harold Klein, CTO (Chief Technology Officer) of Ernst & Young AG.

“The partnership with Ernst & Young is a clear signal of the re-stimulation of the colocation market in Germany,” said Dr. Béla Waldhauser, Managing Director of TeleCity GmbH. “We are currently involved in detailed talks with other prestigious companies, for which we will also be providing a wide range of services in the near future. A key part of our strength is the combination of conventional colocation business and a new generation of specialised services, individually tailored to the customer.”
