Speakers:

(1)Prof. Daniel Chan, FIEAust, CPEng, FHKIE, FHKIOA, FHKIEIA

Ir Prof. Daniel P. Chan graduated in 1978 from University of New South Wales, holding B.Eng(Hons) and later in 1981 M.Eng.Sc of the same university. He has over 30 years of working experience in Australia, Hong Kong and China. He established Daniel Chan &Associates Ltd. in Hong Kong in 1990 . His major project involvement includes the 104 level above grade Landmark Tower (MTRC Kowloon Station, Phase 7) and 632 m tall Shanghai Centre in Pudong Shanghai. Daniel was an Honorary and Adjunt Professsor, Schoolof Architecture in Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is the Founding President of Institution of Engineers Australia (now Engineers Austrlia)Hong Kong Chapter in 2002. In 2010,he was awarded the prestige Engineers Australia Medal. He has recently been re-accredited National Assessor for Engineers Australia. He has been awarded the Outstanding Alumnus of the Year by the Australian ConsulateGeneral and Federation of Australian Alumni Association in 2005.

Daniel was a Board member of Hong Kong Green Building Council and Vice Chairman of BEAM Society.He has actively promotedGreen Building Movement and Sustainable Design in Hong Kong and China. He is a frequent speaker for a number of learned societies,tertiary institutions and professional bodies on green building/building services and environmental engineering topics. He is also the author of many articles such as HKIE Journals, conference papers and BEAM Plus V1.1

(2)Mr. Malcolm Macdonald, FIEAust, CPEng, MHKIE

Mr Malcolm Macdonald has a background in mechanical engineering with a focus on tunnel infrastructure and major buildings. He is currently a National Assessor with Engineers Australia. Malcolm has spent much of his career as a consulting engineer with major firms and has a strong affinity with Hong Kong having lived and travelled there for work since 1990's,including a role as Mechanical Team Leader on the Chek Lap Kok main airport terminal building. Malcolm is also a Chartered Professional Engineer enrolled on the Australian National Professional Engineers Register, and is a Fellow of Engineers Australia.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Attending Engineers Australia members will be issued with a certificate acknowledging 1.5 hours of CPD.
