Time

Commitment:Three days per week for three months (starting Feb/March 2010)

Purpose of Role:

WaterAid's aim is to help the worlds' poorest people to enjoy the benefits that safe water and basic sanitation can bring. By working with communities in low-cost, self-help schemes using technologies that are appropriate to local conditions, thirteen million people have benefited from WaterAid-funded projects throughout Africa and Asia since 1981.

In October 2009, WaterAid released an ambitious new strategy with the aim of reaching a further 25 million people by 2015; and, by influencing the policies and practices ofgovernments and service providers,to reach a further 100 million people.

Part of increasing our reach has been to expand the number of countries that we work in. In 2009 we added nine countries to our portfolio, bringing the total to 26 and by 2015 we hope to be working in 30 countries.

The remit of the Priority Funding Teamis to develop fundraising products to assistwith high level income generation. This requires work across all departments (fundraising, communications, policy and the international teams) to consult on, design and develop fundraising products that best reflect WaterAid’s project and policy work.

WaterAid is looking for acommitted intern to support the manager of the Priority Funding Teamand ensure that WaterAid’s donors remain committed to, and continue to support, WaterAid’s vital work across Asia, Africa and Asia pacific.The successful candidate will assistspecifically with the design and creation of proposals for the new country programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your experience and transferable skills, as well as to make a real contribution and get involved with a new and exciting area of WaterAid’s fundraising. The post holder will gain a deep understanding of WaterAid’s work in the fieldand itscontribution to the development sector.

Tasks:

– collate detailed information on programmes of work and liaise with teams across WaterAid in order to producecompelling proposals for support

– general administration relating to the delivery of the project

Training:

Training will be provided to equip the successful candidate with the relevant knowledge of WaterAid and WaterAid’s systems. Opportunities to develop further knowledge of the sector will be given through attendance at talks and meetings.

Travel expenses are paid and you will get a lunch allowance of £5 per day if working over 6 hours.
