Team Coach & Assistant Coach Nomination Information Form 2017
Prerequisites
Coaches MUST be the holder of a current Blue Card or Exemption Notice; a current appropriate National Coaching Accreditation; must not have any outstanding discipline related matters from any Netball Club, PRNA, Netball Queensland, Netball Australia or related netball association; and must not have identified, promoted or encouraged PRNA players to other associations for their consideration of representative inclusion.
Representative Coach Classification: Volunteer Position
Tier 3 (SEQ Cup or equivalent) Classification: An honorarium based on coaching experience and coaching sessions throughout the season
Reports to: PRNA Coaching Officer

Key Responsibilities:
PRE-SEASON
· Attend and assist with the delivery of the PRNA Development Program;
· Assist with the modification of the Development Program; and
· Attend pre Development Coaching Meetings.
TRAINING
· Plan, conduct and evaluate training sessions ensuring all players and the team develop the necessary skills to play at the representative level;
· Have a written coaching plan for each session conducted;
· Ensure the coaching conducted is based on safe and sensible coaching principles;
· Check and maintain a safe environment on courts and surrounds before and during each training session;
· Provide feedback on players to the Coaching Officer, when called upon, following each session; and
· Attend any coaching meetings as required by the Coaching Officer.
CARNIVALS
· Travel with the team to and from carnivals/state events;
· Coach the team at day carnivals and state events;
· Remain with the team between games unless otherwise excused by the Coaching Officer where the Manager must be present in your absence;
· Attend a minimum of 4 day carnivals including the compulsory PRNA representative carnival (Development Teams {Div 3} must attend all day carnivals); over 16 years must attend minimum of the PRNA representative carnival);
· Ensure each player receives the following court time:
o Day Carnivals – 12 & 13 year old teams (minimum 50%);
o Day Carnivals – 14 years and above (minimum 33%);
o State Events – 12 and 13 years (minimum 33%); however, can be reduced due to performance based (fitness levels; non-attendance at training; poor sportsmanship); and
o State Events - 14 years and above performance based.
· Provide a verbal report to the Coaching Officer at the conclusion of the carnivals, if required;
· Be present at carnival presentations;
· Wear the association coach’s uniform as supplied by the association at carnivals/state events;
· Be responsible for the conduct of players ensuring the appropriate rest and recovery of players between games and at accommodation when travelling away; and
· Assist the Representative Coordinator and Coaching Officer at all times.
POST SEASON REQUIREMENTS
· Complete the Player Profile at the conclusion of the Representative Season and provide the profile to the Coaching Officer within specified time periods; and
· Attend the award/presentation event.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
· Hold a minimum of Foundation Qualification;
· Obtain a minimum of Development Qualification by the end of the rep season for 14 and 15 year team coaches;
· Obtain a minimum of an Intermediate Qualification by the end of the rep season for 16 year and older team coaches;
· Demonstrated knowledge of skills and strategies at a level commensurate with PRNA representative teams;
· Be open to improving your own skills by attending and participating in programmes organised by PRNA; North Brisbane Region; Netball Queensland for players and coaches;
· Identify to the Coaching Officer any knowledge or skill development you may identify to help yourself as a coach or your peers;
· Accept and seek advice, guidance and assistance from other rep coaches and the Coaching Officer;
· Educate players on health and safety in netball including nutrition, rest and injury prevention and management, including warm-up and warm-down techniques;
· Encourage the enjoyment of netball;
· Put more stress on ‘effort’ rather than ‘outcome’;
· Be reasonable in your demands on the player’s time, energy and enthusiasm;
· Set realistic standards and objectives;
· Provide experiences that are appropriate to the age, ability and maturity of the players;
· Ensure the consequences of inappropriate behaviour are understood and where necessary report any incidents promptly to the Coaching Officer or Representative Coordinator or Management Committee Member;
· Set an example of good sporting behaviour;
· Actively promote PRNA and support its vision to perform at the highest level that it can achieve;
· Encourage team/association spirit within and around other PRNA teams. Actively support other teams at carnivals;
· Understand the requirement for confidentiality regarding private player information, impartiality and ethics; and
· Assist the team to bond and work together.
COMPLAINTS
· If you have a complaint regarding any representative netball matter (including umpiring, organisation, parents, managers) you should first discuss your concerns with the Coaching Officer who will take responsible action to resolve the concerns.

Dates and venues for the 2017 are yet to be advised. Coaches are reminded you must be available for all State events and nominated day carnivals.
