This position is responsible for the delivery of approved training and assessment of Education Support qualifications for the Education Workforce Development project, working with NT Government primary schools.
The role includes:
*Teaching, student assessment, maintenance of student files,
*Editing and development of culturally appropriate teaching and learning materials;
*Liaising with remote Aboriginal communities and with industry partners as required;
*Working throughout the Northern Territory is an essential requirement of the position; and
*Liaising with other staff and monitoring of student learning outcomes in accordance with curriculum guidelines of Batchelor Institute, the Division of Further Education and National Vet Regulation (NVR) standards.
- Detailed statement of duties
- Delivery of training courses at both Bachelor campus, remote Aboriginal communities as required. Also includes facilitation of learning in school-based environments under a workforce development approach, which incorporates tutorials; practical classes; demonstrations; workshops; field excursions; etc.
- Prepare training assessment strategies; training plans; enrolments processs, training resources; etc. required for the effective and efficient delivery of training courses.
- Develop appropriate teaching materials which respond to clients learning needs. In particular, contribute to the development of workplace English language, literacy and numeracy programs.
- Participate in flexible course delivery strategies to support student engagement and completion of programs
- Undertake the basic administrative tasks including maintaining students records required of all Batchelor Institute staff in relation to course delivery.
- Conduct and / or organise workplace assessment as required according to the Institute’s Academic Rules and Division of Further Education, and national quality standards (ASCF/ASQA).
- Consult and counsel students on their academic progress and recommend appropriate action
- Participate in research and/or fee-based activities.
- Maintain personal professional development.
- Attend Division / Institute meetings as required.
- Other duties within the range of skills normally associated with this designation as directed.
- Essential selection criteria
- . A tertiary qualification equivalent to four (4) year’s higher education relevant to primary teaching, and/or a qualification in Education and / or four (4) years’ experience relevant to this position.
3.2Proven capacity to work effectively with others in a culturally diverse team, as well as being able to operate independently of direct supervision, demonstrated time management skills to undertake a range of administrative tasks using computer technology.
3.3Demonstrated capacity to work effectively within the social, political and cultural environments of Aboriginal communities and organisations and to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal Australians, including adult students and community members.
3.4Demonstrated capacity to respond effectively to the learning needs of adult Aboriginal students including developing culturally appropriate teaching resources.
3.5A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) and a current NT Working with Children (Ochre Card).
3.6Significant relevant experience delivering VET training, including currency in knowledge of the National VET Regulatory systems and currency in the education industry to comply with requirements of the National Standards.
3.7Must be able to undertake travel throughout the Northern Territory in a light aircraft, must possess a Northern Territory C class manual drivers licence with experience of driving on unformed roads, and must be prepared to stay in a range of accommodation available to the Batchelor Institute staff, including camping out.

Special features of this position
The Lecturer B (Education) will be responsible for the delivery and assessment of VET Education Support and other professional learning within the Education Workforce Development Project. This will require stakeholder negotiations and collaboration in particular with the Department of Education schools and other service providers.
