Professional Growth Activities
Teachers will develop instructional lessons and practices that utilize LearningPoint to facilitate learning activities beyond the regular classroom day. Teachers will also use discussion boards and other on line collaborative approaches to extend topics and lessons outside the school.
August 17th and 18th: ½ Days 8:00 – 12:00 (Hands on in computer lab):
Day One: Awareness and Use of LearningPoint Portal and course site
Portal/Course Development
§ Login method
§ Edit account information
§ Customize portal
§ Course Management & Customization
§ Customize course with navigation
§ Create folder structure for content
§ Create Items to support instruction (ie assignment listing, reading list, weblinks to sites
§ Upload documents to support instruction (ie word documents, PowerPoint’s, or graphics)
Day Two: Creating Instructional Projects such as webquests, hotlist, treasure hunts to expand standards based lessons
· Identify and outline a project
· Identify and find resources
· Create evaluation tool
· Design and Post to LearningPoint
Classroom Implementation Activities from summer session (August to November)
· Posting of supporting instruction notes or resources to re-enforce and revisit classroom instruction.
· Utilizing discussion board activities to increase opportunities for all student to have a voice in discussions and to reflect on and respect others opinions. Provides the opportunities for higher-thinking and discussion of classroom topics and learning.
Reflection Activities first trimester
· Using course statistics, track the site usage over time
· Logging parent and student feedback
· Monitoring increased student success and participation
· Reflective journal on changes of instructional practice and relationships with students.
November 15th: (3:30 to 5:00) After school session 1:
Expanding knowledge of collaboration tools and posting evidence of learning
· Utilize digital Dropbox tool and discussion boards to provide individualized feedback and collaboration between student to student and student to teacher
· Develop and share expectations for home to school communication.
Classroom Implementation Activities from summer session (November to February)
· Expand LearningPoint activities to include collaboration through discussion boards or digital Dropbox.
· Create a formal process allowing student and parent access via Learning Point to monitor student progress and engage in instructional activities and resources.

February 16th : (3:30 to 5:00) After school session 3:
Utilizing assessment tools to support at home learning
· Identify and create pre-assessment activities to identify gaps in learning which allows students to take charge of their learning and guide teachers in how to support reaching standards.

· Create on line guided practice activities, tests for understanding
· Share outside resources for assessing and extending content

May 23rd (3:30 to 5:00) After school session 4:
Evaluation and extending the TLC
· Reflect on how participants classroom learning environment has changed as a result of applying the content of this TLC
· Share reflective journal and determine personal next steps for utilizing LearningPoint to support extending learning beyond the classroom
· Evaluate the TLC for identified improvement
