Teacher of Music: TMS/UPS
Permanent contract, Part time 0.64fte
We are seeking to appoint a well qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Musicto teach throughout the age and ability range. The person appointed will be able to demonstrate high quality teaching skills to deliver the Creative Arts curriculum and in addition be committed to extra curricular activities.
1.THE VACANCY
The permanent and part time 0.64fte post provides an excellent opportunity to join a thriving school for either a newly qualified teacher or an experienced teacher bringing those extra dimensions to the department. We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher to teach across all key stages with a full commitment to extra curricular activities.
The governors will be seeking to appoint a Teacher of Music with the following qualities and abilities;-
- A well qualified and motivated teacher
- The ability to teach GCSE and AS/A2 Music to a high level
- Good ICT skills
- AQA examinations
- Enthusiasm to deliver extra curricular activities

3.THE CREATIVE ARTS CURRICULUM
The Creative ArtsFaculty is a good Faculty overall with many outstanding features. The Faculty benefits from highly motivated and professional teaching teams and committed students who enjoy their learning. Teachers in this Faculty work extremely hard and promote both curricular and extra curricular success for young people.
4.THE CREATIVE ARTS FACILITIES
The Faculty benefits from a wide range of specialist accommodation in each of the three main areas. Music, Art and Drama are taught in three distinct areas. Art have a suite of 4 spaces with additional space for sixth-form studies, Music has three main teaching rooms plus a recording studio, Drama benefits from three teaching spaces. All Creative Arts subjects also have access to a small (14) suite of Apple Macs.
Music teaching takes place in the three main teaching rooms, with A level classes having access to computers running Sibelius and Cubase. All rooms are equipped with a piano, a set of Yamaha keyboards and a stereo system, and in addition there is a good range of tuned and untuned percussion, ukuleles and a set of steel pans. Visiting instrumental staff from North Somerset Music Service teach in the practice rooms, which are also housed in the department, and concerts takes place in the main school hall, which benefits from a good sound system and a Yamaha grand piano.We have a full orchestra, a wind band, guitar ensemble, percussion group and plethora of choirs.
5. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
We are looking for a motivated and hard-working Music teacher to be an enthusiastic member of the Creative Arts Faculty. Interested candidates should display the following:-
Excellent teaching skills
Commitment to high expectations and standards of work
Be a confident teacher ofMusicand related subjects
Good organisational and management skills
Ability to develop excellent relationships with pupils and staff
Be an enthusiastic teacher who is flexible and can adopt the differing teaching styles required by the courses offered
Commitment to using ICT as a teaching tool
Be creative in bringing ideas to the faculty
Sense of humour
