How is this a rigorous Common Core lesson?
(Specifically focus on TKES Standards 3 and 8) / Students must utilize higher order thinking skills to discern character traits that distinguish heroism. Students must also relay that understanding through constructed response mediums and reflect upon their personal characteristics to compare what of those traits they share.

Opening
(5-10 min) / Students will review for their test using a variety of methods.
Work-Time Activities
(35- 40 min) / Students will work with a partner answering questions to help with their studying for the test. Students will answer 2 blog entries that will assist them on the writing portion of their test. And finally students will complete an activity on Jimmy Carter that is a fun way to summarize his role in Georgia.
Closure Activity (10 min) / Students will use an exit card to summarize what they know and what they still have questions on. This will be used as the opening tomorrow.

(5-10 min) / The student will pair with a neighbor to quiz each other on the content using the questions they created.
Work-Time Activities
(35- 40 min) / The student will partner with a peer to play a review game through Kahoot!
Closure Activity (10 min) / The student will reflect upon their learning and understanding to establish the existence of any remaining questions about the content and/or testing materials.

(5 minutes) / Students will be "put in the Hot Seat" and asked to answer review questions for the upcoming assessment.
Opening
(5-10 min) / Writing prompt: Which of Jimmy Carter's accomplishments demonstrate his desire to promote tolerance and cooperation between differing groups of people? (prompt may be used as part of assessment at teacher's discretion.)
Work-Time Activities
(35- 40 min) / The student will complete an assessment on GPS SS8H12
Closure Activity (10 min) / The student will be allowed all necessary time to complete the assessment. After all students have completed the assessment reteaching and review of test materials will aid in remediation.

(5 minutes) / After reviewing the their current test grade students will explain how they will continue to work hard or how they need to study. Students will also notify the teacher on areas they still need help. This will help plan the upcoming re teaching for the milestone test.
Opening
(5-10 min) / The student will work in centers today for remediation, enrichment, or testing depending on the needs of each individual student. Centers will be explained and studnets will be allowed to group based upon individual needs.
Work-Time Activities
(35- 40 min) / Center 1: Remediation
Center 2: Enrichment
Center 3:Testing
Closure Activity (10 min) / The student will complete an exit ticket to demonstrate their learning across multiple history performance standards.

While assistance will be provided where needed, students will demonstrate individual knowledge as a product of their learning. There will be multiple avenues of discussing and varying opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning and understanding.
