Goal(s): / Be able to structure an outline for a rough draft that includes topic sentences for the body paragraphs and a re-hook for the conclusion. / Students will be able to work in groups during the editing phase to provide and receive feedback on their work. / Students will apply word processing technology to edit their rough drafts. Students will also recognize and correct errors in syntax, and person. / Students will be able to choose axioms, quotes aphorisms that appeal to them while conducting research. / Students will be able to write a short essay explain the appeal of an idea to them personally.

Activities: / I will present an outline organizer to students and explain how it is to be used,
I will take my thesis that I crafted and modeled for them and break it down to create topic sentences and show examples of how to create supporting details.
There will also be emphasis in transitioning from one paragraph to the next. / I will show a short video of students working in groups during the editing process.
I will give each student a handout in which they are to write their impressions of each member of their groups work thus far with an emphasis on being respectful when providing any criticism. / Students will reconvene with their groups and look at each other’s feedback.
Students who are farther along in the process with be able to start typing their final product o class computers while other students work on making needed corrections’ / We will be in the library computer room to conduct research.
I will give a power point presentation explain the rules and format our 1rst quarter quote battle competition.
Students will have time to work individually to conduct research on quotes they want to choose for the quote battle. / We will be in the library computer room to conduct research.
Students will have the entire period to complete their submissions list.
Classwork / Homework / Students will use the products that have crafted during the week and the outline organizers to craft topic sentences and supporting information for body paragraphs. / Students will create written critiques of each group members’ information they have compiled so far and fill out a checklist on each member. / Students who are farther along in the process with be able to start typing their final product o class computers while other students work on making needed corrections’ / Students will compile a list of potential choices from the 4 categories:( Scientists, theologian, philosophers), (artists-musicians-actors), (politicians-world leaders). / Students will complete and turn in their submissions list for the quote battle.
