JOB TITLE: COMMUNITY & EVENTS FUNDRAISER/
COMMUNITY & EVENTS FUNDRAISING ASSISTANT *
REPORTS TO: HEAD OF FUNDRAISING
HOURS: 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK**
SALARY: £18,000 - £25,000 pa (depending on experience)
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE
To be responsible for high levels of stewardship to a variety of volunteers, supporters and community supporters. Identify and prospect for fundraising group opportunities to
maximise fundraising activity. To be responsible for managing designated KHH events, identifying new event opportunities wherever possible. Significantly raise our local profile to grow core income and supporter/donor involvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Establishing a strong community fundraising presence in the communities the charity serves
1. Have responsibility for building effective local networks involving the charity retail base as appropriate.
2. Identify local opportunities to promote the work we do, including getting involved in local community activities such as fetes etc.
3. Use your stewardship skills to guide, support and retain volunteers, supporters and donors by demonstrating in-depth knowledge and understanding of the supporter/donor journey.
4. Use of existing and new networks to develop potential fundraising activities, whilst deepening supporter/donor relationships.
Proactively develop local fundraising capacity and the development of fundraising groups
1. Be responsible for the recruitment and development of community based fundraising groups and to establish a programme of activities and events.
2. Be a support to local groups and come up with appropriate fundraising activities.
3. Maximise publicity locally in each community working with the Communications Officer.
4. Act as the ‘go to’ person for volunteers and groups on all aspects of community fundraising activity.
Organise and run local community campaigns such as Care for a Cuppa and the Festival of Open Gardens
1. Plan and deliver each event maximising the use of local volunteers and supporters.
2. Ensure maximum local publicity working with the Communications Officer.
Organise and run designated KHH events
1. To project manage each event in an organised and efficient manner, ensuring that all logistical details are carefully managed and volunteers recruited as necessary
2. To work with the wider team to promote the event, using event leaflets, the KHH newsletter, website, social media, banners and posters as required. To seek new opportunities to promote our events.
3. To fully evaluate each event to include feedback on event logistics and to suggest improvements for next time. To evaluate the success of each marketing channel for future use.
4. Effective stewarding of supporters undertaking sporting and challenge events .
Work effectively within the Fundraising team and the charity
1. Maintain the effective use of the fundraising data base to ensure all data and correspondence is up to date and accurate.
2. Participate in team work and provide support at key events and activities such as our Lights of Love service.
3. Collaborate with other income generation teams and wider, to maximise income potential, fundraising support and donor development.
4. Support the Head of Fundraising to develop a range of plans that enable the charity to achieve its income generation targets through community fundraising activities.
5. Analyse, and produce, monthly financial and progress reports identifying remedial action and where projected income or performance is potentially off-target.
6. Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the skills, duties and managerial level of this role as directed by the charity.
Managing Volunteers
1. Ensure that all volunteers working on your initiatives are given the information and support needed to carry out their tasks to their maximum potential.
2. Ensure that any new fundraising office or event volunteers are aware of KHH’s Health and Safety information and adhere to any policies as necessary.
3. Recruit new volunteers as appropriate, liaising with the Volunteer Co-ordinator to ensure that correct paperwork is completed and references taken.
4. Ensure that the fundraising office and event volunteers are thanked for their contribution and feel supported and valued during their time at KHH.
* There are 2 positions currently available.
Applications are preferred from experienced fundraisers, however candidates that are interested in beginning a career in fundraising and meet the majority of the person specification will be considered for the assistant role. It would be expected that an assistant could develop to achieve a fundraiser role within 2 years.
**Applications will be considered from candidates that can work a minimum of 22.5 hrs per week (0.6 WTE) at the aforementioned salary on a pro rata basis.
