Use talk to organise and clarify thinking.
Use language to imagine and recreate roles and experiences in play situations. / -Who helps us in the school? Who is the most important? Why? Encourage reasoning for thinking and a variety of answers.
-Hot seat different teachers – find out information about their role.
Role play- school- have globe, books, white boards, phonics games etc. to aid language. / Literacy
Uses clearly identifiable letters to communicate meaning.
Uses vocabulary and forms of speech that are increasingly influenced by their experience of books. / -Read true/false sentences about helpers around the school.
-Discuss why we have school badges. Talk about safety. Model how to write their own badge.

Maths
Use every day language related to time
Measures short periods of time in simple ways.
Orders and sequences familiar events / - Look at school daily routine- sequence and use time related vocab/connectives- first, next, after.
-Order daily routine cards and discuss the times.
-Look at o’clock and half past
Leave big clock and small clocks out for independent use- variety of different times in the box.

Children to talk about past and present events.

Ribbon, card, Prendergast logos, names cards, glue, staples, cello tape- make school badges.
Lunch time- play dough, lunch time plates, cutlery, play food / EAD
Plays alongside other children who are engaged in the same theme.
Create simple representation of events, people and objects.
Experiments with different textures. / -Discuss friendship at school. How do we play alongside each other? Understand that we may want to do different things?
-Children to role play being the teacher- can they do the register, choose rows/children to line up, ring the bell- choose a different ‘teacher’ each day.
