- Real-time Remote Measurements of Dehumidification Loads and Surface Water Activity in 30 houses in Florida
- Description:To assist a major production builder improve the mold-resistance of their standard designs, a small team installed approximately 350 remote monitoring sensors in 30 occupied and unoccupied houses located in South Florida. The data collected between May and October of 2016 show that dehumidification loads were far higher than one might expect from houses that do not have ventilation by design. Also unexpected was that even when surface water activity remained very high for extended periods, painted gypsum board surfaces were remarkably resistant to mold growth.
