Recognition of Students – The board recognized students receiving state and national honors during the 2005-2006 school year.
Anna Jarvis grounds improvement – Mrs. Sharp requested approval for gravel and mats to be placed on the playground area, mulching to be placed, for a trail in rear of school to be cleared for physical activity, for shrubbery replacement, and for benches and tables to be placed with all costs covered by donations. Rev. Bolyard moved, 2nd. by Mr. Nestor, to grant Mrs. Sharp approval to proceed with the grounds improvements. Yeas 5 Nays 0
TCMS girls’ volleyball - Mr. Reneau requested approval to implement a girls’ volleyball program at Taylor County Middle School. The board granted approval to post a volleyball coach position at Taylor County Middle School.
Board Committee Reports – RESA - Mr. Whitescarver reported on the pandemic and Brick Street.
UTC – Mr. Nestor reported on the wavier request to the state board of education and the aviation class.
Mrs. Reynolds presented the board with a copy of the Raleigh County “School Zone” containing information on their auditorium project, an invitation for the board to visit the 4-H camp, and a letter from the Equitable Gas Company explaining the billing error. She informed the board that she had received approximately 300-400 responses from the outdoor facilities survey. All surveys are to be returned by June 12th. The results will be compiled at that time and presented to the board at the next meeting.
