TATKAL RESERVATION

New Tatkal scheme provides exclusive tatkal quota in all Mail / Express trains including Rajdhani /Shatabdi/ Jan Satabdi Express. in 2A / 3A / SL / CC / and 2s Classes.

The Tatkal charges have been fixed as a percentage of fare at the rate of 10% of basic fare for second class and 30% of basic fare for all other class subject to minimum and maximum given in the table below.

The above charges will be levied uniformly both in peak period and non peak period.

Tatkal tickets will be issued for actual distance of travel, instead of end-to-end, subject to the distance restriction applicable to the train. The same Tatkal berth/ seat may be booked in multiple legs till preparation of charts. At the time of preparation of charts, unutilized portion may be released to the General RAC/Waiting list passengers.

Tatkal facility will be introduced in Executive Class of Shatabdi Express trains also, by earmarking 10% of the accommodation available i.e. 5 seats per coach.

The existing refund rules of tatkal tickets will remain unchanged.

SALIENT FEATURES OF NEW TATKAL SCHEME

/ . Reservation can be done from any Computerized Reservation Counter and through Internet also.
/ Available to full fare paying passengers only - not for concessional ticket holders.
/ Reservations starts at 8AM two days in advance of date of journey.
/ A flat refund of 25% of total fare charged on the ticket excluding Tatkal charges may be granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal ticket, which are presented for cancellation up to24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. There after no refund is permitted on confirmed reservation made under Tatkal scheme of reservation except when the Railways are not able to provide the Tatkal coach on trains for any reason.
/ Refund permissible only if -

*Train delayed by more than 3 hrs.. .

*Passenger not provided accommodation in the same class.

*Passenger provided accommodation in lower class but doesn't want to travel.

* / Facility of change of name not permitted
* / Production of proof of identity at the time of booking or during journey not required for the ticket booked from PRS counter, but passenger booking tickets under Tatkal Scheme must carry any one of the following eight (8) Identity proofs in original during the course of journey .
  1. Voter Photo Identity Card issued by Election Commission of India .
  2. Passport.
  3. PAN CARD issued by Income Tax Department
  4. Driving License issued by Central / State Government .
  5. Photo Identity Card issued by Central / State Government .
  6. Student Identity card issued by recognized school / college for their students .
  7. Nationalized Bank Pass Book with photograph and
  8. Credit Cards issued by Banks with laminated Photograph .

Any one of the passengers will be required to produce any one of the Identity proofs in original for checking by ticket checking staff during the course of journey failing which , all the passenger / passengers traveling on the said ticket will be treated as traveling without ticket and will be charged excess fare and penalty as per rules .
