Appendix 2aPERFORMANCE CONCERNS
Date:_____/_____/_____
Dear ______
I am concerned that your child is not making satisfactory progress towards the completion of work requirements in the Unit of Study:
______
for the reason(s) indicated below:
Late to class (date: _____/_____/_____)
Non-attendance (date: _____/_____/_____)
Non-completion of homework
Unacceptable behaviour in class
Frequently out of uniform
Lack of effort in class
My concern is that if this attitude does not improve, your child is in danger of not satisfactorily fulfilling the requirements of this Unit of Study within the time allowed.
I would like to bring to your attention the fact that if any course work is not completed satisfactorily, your child will “fail” the whole Unit. This policy is set down by VCAA. This was set out in the “VCE Policy and Information” handbook given to each student.
This letter is designed to bring your attention to a problem at this stage. I encourage you to contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss this matter. You can contact me at the College on 59716700 to make an appointment.
Yours faithfully,

Appendix 3NON SUBMISSION OF COURSEWORK
Date:_____/_____/_____
Student’s Name:______
VCE Unity of Study:______
Coursework:______
Teacher:______
Dear______
Your child has not met the submission date for the course work noted above. As the work has not been submitted it cannot be assessed by the class teacher.
Currently this outcome is assessed as ‘N’ – Not Satisfactory, and as a result the whole unit of the study must be assessed as ‘N’ – Not Satisfactory.
Bayside Christian College endeavours to give each student every opportunity to succeed. Depending on the circumstances which have led to the non-submission of work, there may be ways of reviewing the current assessment. Please contact the College to discuss the reasons for this worrying situation, and any possible way of your child gaining an ‘S’ (Satisfactory) for this outcome?
Please note: Deadlines for the submission of result to the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority are outside the control of the College. If you have not contacted the College within two days we will have few options other than submitting an ‘N’ for the outcome and the Unit of Study.
It is in your child’s interest to contact the class teacher urgently.
Yours sincerely,

Appendix 4aUNSATISFACTORY GRADE

Outcome/Task:______
Teacher:______
Dear______
This letter is to inform you that your son/daughter has received an unsatisfactory grade according to our VCE Assessment policy:
To receive an "S" for a Unit, students must satisfactorily demonstrate achievement of each of the outcomes for that unit as specified in the study design. Achievement of an outcome means that outcomes and SACs must receive a minimum of D (50%).
This policy was communicated to you via letter earlier this year (Appendix 8) and is designed to ensure students are applying themselves appropriately and can navigate their chosen subjects.
Your son/daughter will be required to re-submit the task, after working with the teacher to address any difficulties. It is hoped that this opportunity will assist the student in realising the importance of application in the VCE years or identify areas of concern.
Please note that any more than two unsatisfactory grades will result in an overall unsatisfactory grade for the Unit.
If you have any questions about the assessment policy, or would like information of how to further support your son/daughter, please do not hesitate to contact us. We thank you for your support in this matter.
Yours sincerely,

Appendix 6ABSENTEEISM IN VCE
Date:_____/_____/_____
Student’s Name:______
VCE Unit of Study: ______
Dear______
I am drawing to your attention to Section B: 3 – Attendance of the VCE Policy & Information Handbook which states:
Regular attendance at all classes is essential for a student to progress and also for authentication of SAC’s, SAT’s and outcomes. If students absent themselves the following steps will take place:
- Any unauthorised absence from a class will result in a detention. Frequent absences will result in a meeting with parents and VCE Coordinator.
- If the student continues to be absent and misses over 20% of classes in a study in a semester in an unauthorised fashion, he/she will receive an N for the affected units, which could in the case of Unit 3 & 4 subjects, lead to failure of the VCE.
- If there is a continued lack of attendance in several studies, a meeting with the student and his/her parents will be called by the VCE Coordinator at which the student will be required to explain, "Why he/she should not be removed from the rolls".
- Students who have "study periods" (i.e. no classes timetabled) are expected to work in the library or study room and must obtain the permission of the VCE Coordinator to vary this arrangement.
- Students must bring a note, signed by parents or guardian, should they be absent from school for any reason. The note should be given to the Home Group teacher.
- Students are required to attend all devotions, assemblies and excursions and to be punctual at all times.
- It is the responsibility of the student to catch up on work missed while absent from any class.
- Authentication queries will arise if students have missed classes in an unauthorised manner.
This term your son/daughter has been absent from ______for _____ days, this equates to a ______% absence. As a result your son/daughter is in danger of failing this subject due to this poor attendance record.
Please contact the College to schedule a convenient time to discuss this situation.
