Tasmanian Young Artist Awards

at the Tasmanian Craft Fair 2017 (TCF)

The Opportunity

There is a wealth of talented young artists within our schools. The Tasmanian Craft Fair (TCF) seeks to provide an opportunity and a platform for Tasmania’s young creatives to showcase their abilities in developing an artwork to be shown to the diverse and large scale audience that the Tasmanian Craft Fair attracts. With this in mind, we introduce the Tasmanian Young Artist Awards (TYAA).

The TYAA is seen as a means to provide encouragement and exposure for Tasmania’s young artists to showcase their work to an audience in the thousands.

In addition, it is expected that the TYAA and the exhibiting young artists would receive recognition and promotion on TV, radio, social media, newspapers and in the TCF program.

Applications will be assessed by a panel of judges with up to 30 works being shortlisted for exhibition, which will be held during the month of November 2017, and will be opened as a key feature of the 2017 Tasmanian Craft Fair.

The award is non-acquisitive and the selected artistsmay accept expressions of interest for any potential purchase of their work free of commission.

There will be two prizes, one of $500 for artists in years 7 to 10 and another one of $750 for artists in years 11 to 12.
