Video Project: Due date: Thursday November 5th

Role:

You are a teenager with too many chores to do around the house and you can’t get your schoolwork done or have any free time to enjoy with friends.

Audience:

You need to convince your parents that you have too many chores. You hope to get them to take away some of your chores and/or to get others to help you.

Situation:

You have to do all of the chores in the house. Your siblings do not help with the chores. You think that it is not fair that you have to do everything around the house. You would like to enjoy free time with friends. You would like to get schoolwork done. You need help with the chores.

Product, Performance, and Purpose:

You will create a video in order to show your parents that you have too much work to do and that your siblings do not help.

Standards and Criteria for Success:

Your performance needs to include:

Las Casa: Name 5 areas of the house

Los Quehaceres: Name 10 different chores you have to do

Grammar- accurate use of “tener que”

Your work will be judged by Criterion C and Criterion D – Please refer to your rubric

Communicating in the language- EXPRESS YOURSELF

Give the facts- name the chores

Give your opinion- tell why you shouldn’t have to do them

Give suggestions- tell who should do the chores and why

Make sure that you remember your AUDIENCE. Who are you talking to? The language and tone used should match your audience.

Using language in Spoken Form

Use a range of vocabulary- use vocabulary you learned this year. Incorporate vocabulary you learned in years past. Don’t just stick with the basic. Push yourself forward. Consider using a new TENSE. Use transition words. Use time.

Use additional language such as cleaners and tools used to complete the chores.

After you read the task sheet, write your questions below. Ask the questions in class to get clarification.

Student Questions to the teacher and responses

The written work will be completed in class. The students will practice, record and edit at home. Products need to be turned in on flash drive, CD or SD card. All files must be properly labeled with student’s full formal name, along with name of the project as written on top of this task sheet. Products must be submitted in ONE file

If a project needs to be emailed, it needs to be sent no later than 2 days before the due date in order to ensure on time delivery. Student must notify teacher verbally before the due date that the project was sent. A return email will be sent from teacher to acknowledge receipt of project.
