Task 1 (outcome P1)
Prepare a leaflet to describe to office staff how the use of a local area network can improve communications for individuals within the company. You should then describe how by attaching this network to a Wide Area Network communications with other organisations can be improved. You should also mention how individuals might use the network to improve their personal communications.
Your leaflet should include the following features:

collaborations e.g. social networking, conferencing

Task 2 (OutcomeP2)
Prepare a second leaflet to describe how the company might use a network to manage resources such as hardware, software and data. Remember the management of these resources is the process of ensuring that the right resources are available to the right people at the right time.

Task 3 (OutcomeP3)
Prepare a brief report for the senior management to describe the issues that the company need to be concerned about when installing the LAN and connecting to the WAN. You should include:
Speed – including bandwidth and contention
Costs
Staff skills
Down-time
Security – including virus protection, loss of data, unauthorised access, malware
Back-up and recovery
Hacking
Firewalls

Task 4 (Outcome M1)
Write a second report to management to suggest ways in which networking would improve the productivity of the company. You shouldprovide examples based on the different functional areas of the company such as purchasing, sales, production, warehousing, development etc.
