After years of community effort, which resulted in a successful 2011 New York Main Street (NYMS) application, the Village of Addison is able to announce the availability of New York Main Street funds for building owners in the designated NYMS area.
The Village of Addison NYMS committee expects to fund the restoration of 1 or more facades and/or the rehabilitation of 1 upper story apartment. Applicants selected to participate in the NYMS program are eligible for grant funding of 75% of project costs. All projects funded through the NYMS program will require radon testing (and possible mitigation) according to NYS law. Applicants should consider utilizing radon test kits and then including any possible mitigation costs ($500-$3,000) in the NYMS application.
This is a reimbursement based program; building owners will pay for the initial construction/renovation, when the project is complete the owner will be reimbursed. The Village of Addison NYMS committee will distribute approximately $15,000 - $25,000 in re-imbursements. Building owners may apply for short term loan financing from commercial lenders to fund the initial construction.
The NYMS application for building owners is available online at or a printed application is available in person at the Addison Village Hall. The application is a very simple two page questionnaire. Applicants are encouraged to submit a project scope, drawings and plans (as appropriate). Eight (8) printed copies of the applications will be due on October 25th. Interested building owners have three full weeks to complete the application.
Projects will be evaluated based on the reasonableness of the proposal, the potential of the project to positively impact the Village, and the possibility of correcting code/health and safety violations.
After October 25th, The Addison NYMS Committee will meet to review and select the best NYMS applications. After the top applicants are selected by the Addison NYMS committee, the selected applications will be assessed by the project architects and reviewed by the New York State Main Street office and by the New York State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). The Addison NYMS Committee estimates that contracts with building owners would be signed before December 8th, 2013.
Please note, the village is also accepting qualifications from construction professionals. Contractors, engineers, designers, suppliers, electricians, plumbers, roofers, and others are welcome to complete the NYMS Request for Qualifications on Any contractor selected to work on NYMS funded projects MUST complete the RFQ and be listed on the Qualified Contractors List.
