Taking the Gospel to the Nations

Taking the Gospel to the Nations

Celebrating the Church:

Taking the Gospel to the Nations

(Matthew 28; Acts 1:8; Genesis 12:1-3; Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 19:10)

The initiative in the process of redemption lies with God. Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, God has been engaging in the process of redeeming, globally His creation. God takes the initiative at the very beginning of the Bible in the Book of Genesis, walking in the Garden in the cool of the evening saying, “Adam where are thou?” Genesis 3:9 (KJV) Additionally, He closes the Bible searching for His creatures in the Book of Revelation, saying, “Behold I stand at the door and knock.” Revelation 3:20 (KJV)

The Bible is a mission Book. Every word of scripture focuses on mission, global engagement and extending the Lord’s Church. The Word of God abounds with mission passages in both Old and New Testaments:

Jeremiah 1:5 states, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (NIV) God predestined Jeremiah to be an agent of redemption for Him to all the nations.

Genesis 12:1-3, The Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (NIV) God lays a foundation for His work of redemption by entering into covenant with Abraham to use him as the father of the faithful, expressing to Abraham that his seed will be multiplied and scattered as the sands on the seashore and as the stars in the sky, literally to the ends of the earth.

Finally, in the New Testament, this idea of “the ends of the earth” or “the nations” is picked up in Christ’s commission (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15), then in the Acts of the Apostles, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NIV)

As such the National Primitive Baptist family gather from across the United States of America to renew our commitment to this biblical mandate given to the whole church. This mandate for mission comes to us with authority from heaven as in Matthew 28:18-19 and in the direct words of Jesus in Acts 1:8.

Thus, when this gospel is preached to the ends of the earth, then shall the end come. May we as a church be about our King’s business until He comes again.
