14:00: Call to Order: President CTM Nagotani

President Eiko Nagotani announced the opening of 54th regular meeting.

14:15: Business Session

1) President Nagotani introduced the In-house Speech Contest, Area 32&33 Speech Contest, Division C Speech Contest, and Spring Conference will be held on March 4, March 21, March 29, and May 14, respectively

2) VPE Fujisawa announced that the new club rule of Takarazuka TMC was made.

3) VPM Murabayashi announced that new member list is now under construction.

4) Guests’ Self-introduction

Four guests, Ms. Nina Higa, Ms. Masayo Kondo, Mr. Kiyokazu Tanaka and Mr. George Matsubara made their self-introduction.

Thought for the Day: TM Tony Kaiga

TM Tony Kaiga looked back the main news happened in the last year, the railroad accidents, heavy typhoon named Katrina,the tsunami triggered by a massive earthquake off Sumatra island. He pointed out that the natural disaster is inevitable and that the preparation for unexpected accidents is needed.

What do you imagine when you are asked the New Year?

TM Atsushi Mouri made the visual aids showing the 10 main topics about the New Year.

1) TM Murabayashi talked about going to shrine or temples in the new years days in Japan.

2) ATM Nagahama talked about eating Osechi made by beans and chestnuts.

3) TM Misumi talked about Zouni made by different type of soup in Kansai and Kanto area.

4) Mr. Tanaka talked about the New Year’s card.

5) ATM Suzuki talked about money given as a gift at the New Year’s present to child.

6) CTM Yoshiki talked about the lucky bag.

15:10: Prepared Speech Session: Toastmaster of the Day CTM Keitaro Horikawa

1. TM Hiroyuki Kakiuchi “Children the Victims in Our Society”

B2 speech - Organize Your Speech (5-7 min.) : Select an appropriate outline, which allows listeners to easily follow and understand your speech. Make your massage clear, with supporting material directly contributing to that message. Use appropriate transitions when moving from one idea to another. Create a strong opening and conclusion.

TM Kakiuchi worried about the recent dangerous situation for child who became the victims in our society. He proposed children not to follow unknown adults, be conscious of the useful phrase IKANOSUSHI.

2. TM Toshiko Iwai “White Lies” (B-6, 5-7 min. Voval Variety)

B6 speech - Vocal Variety (5-7 min.) : Use voice volume, pitch rate and quality to reflect and add meaning and interest to your message. Use pauses to enhance your message. Use vocal variety smoothly and naturally.

TM Iwai talked about that there are two types of lies, black and white lies. She insisted that there are differences between people’s stated principles and their real intentions as for the white lies.

3. TM Ruth Itoh “The Park”

B6 speech - Work with Words (5-7 min.) : To select precisely the right words required to communicate your ideas clearly and vividly. To avoid lengthy words and sentences and jargon.

TM Ruth talked that the park is the important place to communicate with other people. She is giving lessons for her child saying that you met with someone in the park, exchange greetings, positively.

4. CTM Kyoko Horikawa “Impromptu Speech”

A6 speech - Speak Off The Cuff, Specialty Speeches (5-7 min.) : Develop an awareness of situations in which you might be called upon to deliver an impromptu speech. Understand how to prepare for impromptu speaking. Develop skill as a speaker in the impromptu situation by using one or more patterns to approach a topic under discussion

CTM Kyoko Horikawa introduce the recent news that a sales person made a mistake about trading. She worked the securities firm before. She advised that it is important to check the office staffs when you chose the securities firm.
