General description

The following dress tactile watches are covered in these instructions - large and small diamante Prestige tactile watches (CW191 and CW192 respectively) and large Sports tactile watch with a black face (CW193). Each watch contains a Swiss quartz movement, is housed in a gold-coloured casing and is fitted with a black leather strap.

Orientation

The watches have a round face with the lid opening at 6 o’clock. When the lid is opened the hinge holds it firmly in position allowing you to read the time from the watch face. When the lid is closed you will hear an audible click, confirming it is closed correctly. The winder is situated at the 3 o'clock position.

The Diamante Prestige watches

These have a white face with gold-coloured hands, the diameters measure:

Large (CW191): 3.7cm includes the case and winder.

Small (CW192): 2.8cm includes the case and winder.

The tactile marks on the face are inset with diamante jewels as follows:

  • 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock - two tactile marks
  • Every other position - single mark

The black and gold Sports watch (CW193)

This has a black face with gold-coloured hands and tactile marks.

Diameter measures 4cm including the case and winder.

The tactile marks on the face are as follows:

  • 12 o'clock - two long tactile bars
  • 3, 6 and 9 o'clock - one long tactile bar
  • Every other position - one short bar

Using the product

Reading the time

The most effective way to feel the time is to begin with your index finger at the centre of the watch face, where the hands join, and then feel out along the hand towards the tactile number mark. Do this for the hour (short hand) and then the minute (long hand).

Battery replacement

These watches are fitted with a Silver oxide SR920SW (SR66/371)battery. It is recommended you take the watch to a watch specialist or jeweller to have the battery replaced.

Please note: RNIB does not guarantee batteries or watch straps.

Hints and Tips

These watches should not be subjected to extremes of cold, heat and humidity and are not waterproof. Always check the battery first if you think a fault has developed.
