Legends:PPV stands for positive predictive value, the probability of the tagged KIR allele given the presence of the tagging KIR allele. NPV stands for negative predictive value, the probability of the absence of the tagged KIR allele given the absence of the tagging KIR allele. POS stands for presence of the gene. NEG stands forabsence of the gene. Other constraints were applied: Tagging must have a minimal PPV of 65%; for robustness of the estimation, only haplotypes of more than 5% frequencywere studied. Confidence intervals can be easily computed because frequencies were estimated by gene counting. The total number of haplotype is 418 (~209 founders of the families). For example, (1st row, table S4) the probability of the absence of KIR2DL5B given the presence of KIR2DS5 is 78.87%, the probability of the presence of KIR2DL5B given that KIR2DS5 is absent is 12.68%, the KIR2DS5*POS-KIR2DL5B*NEG haplotype frequency is 13.4%.
