Table 9A: Annual Report Template for OBU@NLC

The OBU@NLC annual report is part of the university’s strategic planning process. It provides the opportunity to systematically analyze institutional effectiveness over each academic year. The annual report has been designed as a component of this process and is intended to stimulate and identify ongoing improvements in the services provided to the university. The annual report will focus on communicating the accomplishments over one academic year and provide an analysis for improvements to be undertaken during the following year. These annual reports will provide a foundation upon which administrative units may base their seven-year program review. The annual report and review will involve an analysis of trends and concerns within the unit that have developed over the course of the academic year. This document should be posted to the M:drive/Assessment folder by July 1 each year.

  1. Executive summary: Summary highlighting academic year
  1. Mission: Briefly explain how OBU@NLCworked to advance its mission over the last year
  1. Analysis of student enrollment, majors, and retention
  2. Student credit hours for fall and spring
  3. Please aggregate by degree program
  4. Consider trends over a 3-year period.
  5. Do the data suggest that certain areas are either overstaffed or understaffed?
  6. Majors by degree program: Provide analysis of trends, problems, and opportunities.
  7. Retention rates for OBU@NLC
  1. Analysis of program outcomes
  2. Graduate rates: Provide analysis of trends, problems, and opportunities.
  3. Post-graduation outcomes for previous year’s graduates (provide a summary analysis in narrative form and attach the data in the Excel spreadsheet as an appendix)
  1. Faculty
  2. Instructor teaching loads and student credit hours
  3. Any observations you might have on advising issues
  4. Summary of major faculty accomplishments (keep faculty activity reports on file; please do not include it in the main report)
  1. Curriculum
  2. Summary and rationale for major curriculum changes
  3. Observations/analysis of curriculum strengths and weaknesses, include any assessment data to support your analysis
  1. Summary of noteworthy extracurricular and enrichment activities
  2. Discipline-based student organizations
  3. Internships, study abroad, travel opportunities, etc.
  1. Appraisal of learning resources
  2. Facilities (classrooms, labs, equipment, etc.)
  3. Budgets
  4. Library and technology resources

  2. Evaluate last year’s progress on OBU@NLC goals

NOTE: Director should keep an electronic repository of faculty vitae, as well as syllabi for each course.

Table 9B: Annual Assessment of Student Learning for OBU@NLC Degree Programs

This report will be submitted for each degree program offered at OBU@NLC. (Deadline: Nov. 1, submitted by director of OBU@NLC with assistance from the dean of the Pruett School of Christian Studies and the dean of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies)

The annual assessment submission to the M:Assessment folder should consist of one document that includes the following:

  1. Degree Program Mission Statement
  2. Degree Program Student Learning Objectives
  3. Summary data used to assess each Student Learning Objective (course-embedded assessments such as exams, essays, and projects). Compare the data with previous sections of the same course and with the data from the same courses at the main campus.
  4. Include pass rates and average grades for the course(s). Compare the data with previous sections of the same course and with the data from the same course at the main campus.
  5. Summary data and response to course evaluations.
  6. Summary data and response to Student Satisfaction Survey.
  7. Evaluation of data and changes made as a result of assessment (course content, pedagogy, curriculum requirements, etc.).
