Systems Engineer

PCI is actively seeking aSystems Engineer to Provide engineering support to the Reliability and Maintainability InformationSystems (REMIS) prorgam office, which is within the Business Enterprise Services (BES) Directorate at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.

REMIS is the primary AF Enterprise Maintenance data system for collecting, validating, standardizing, integrating and reporting equipment inventory, CFO reporting, status, utilization, configuration, Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO), Time Change/Inspection (TC/I) and maintenance data on an integrated global basis (crossing weapon systems, equipment types, data systems and Major Commands).

REMIS consists of a fully integrated relational database providing a single source of all reportable current and historical AF weapon system data. REMIS is a CFO financial feeder system that provides accounting/accountability of all AF aerospace vehicles, Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM).

A requirement has been established for REMIS’ modernization to create a modern, open architecture Enterprise Maintenance System that is totally portable to any AF or DoD hosting environment and involves conversion of Common Business Oriented Language/Structured Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL/SCOBOL) code and C++ code to Java Enterprise Edition code.

Modernization of the software and hardware also includes re-hosting the REMIS Web Application from the Global Combat Support System-Air Force Integration Framework (GCSS-AF IF) at Gunter Annex, Maxwell Air Force Base (AFB) to the REMIS Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) Computer Processing Facility (CPF).

The final product provides the AF with a modernized and portable Enterprise Maintenance Information System capable of being hosted as directed on a Common Computing Environment (CCE).

Responsibilities:

  • Research advancing baseline technologies and determine technical feasibility and usefulness of adding or upgrading software and firmware that will enhance capability, fix bugs or add necessary new features.
  • Perform system level design, integration and test to verify full system functionality.
  • Evaluate new hardware and software prior to fielding.
  • Conduct site-surveys and requirements-analysis for development of technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, design new configurations, install new software and upgrading existing systems at operational sites
  • Provide and update documentation for supported systems.
  • Recommend/justify updates to the Trusted Facility Manual.
  • Develop and maintain architecture diagrams
  • Participate in special projects, technical meetings, and source selections as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of software experience
  • Experience on DoD or Air Force acquisition programs desired.
  • General understanding of Common Business Oriented Language/Structured Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL/SCOBOL) code, C++ code and Java Enterprise Edition code
  • System-level design, integration and test experience.
  • Experience with writing and updating documentation for supported systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on systems test/deployment experience working with COTS, IT networking, servers, and network/management defense tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidate must have an active US security clearance.
