Symposium ‘Supporting health by technology II’
Thursday May 28, 2009, 10:00 – 16:00
Grolsch Veste, Enschede, Netherlands
In collaboration with the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), the Center for eHealth Research of the University of Twente presents a scientific symposium on eHealth. This year’s theme consists of the effectiveness of e-interventions: do they work, for whom, and why?
In recent years empirical and experiential evidence has been collected in research and practice. A wider implementation is on the verge of breaking through. Examples of successful, local interventions abound. It seems their achievements depend, not just on follow-up funding, but on organizational, legal and psychological factors as well. Which are those exactly and how can we apply our knowledge about them? Like in other Western countries, theoretical approaches progressively support and substantiate interventions with special regard to psychological, behavioral and social-cultural determinants of effectiveness.
Hence all stakeholders are interested in the state of the art with regard to effectiveness of e-interventions and also in the patients and consumers. The proven or potential effectiveness eventually determines acceptance, adoption, implementation and reimbursement of innovative approaches in healthcare.
Four prominent experts will contribute as keynote speakers. They will elucidate the theme from their specific backgrounds and perspectives and shed light on relevant trends and developments.
They are:
Dr. Eileen Brebner, MD
