General Characteristics

The C.T.I. SYMPA “SEMI-AUTOMATIC” refuse collector is built in several versions:

The refuse unit has two main components:

-The body and ejection plate,

-The tailgate and compaction unit articulated on a point at rear of the body.

1-LOADING AND COMPACTION MECHANISM
The packing system comprises of two moving plates, being the packing plate and the sweeping plate.
The packing plate travels on a curved track.
At the end of its track, the sweeping plate is actuated, thus cleaning the hopper. At the end of its travel, the packing plate reverses its travel, thus drawing and compressing the refuse into the body.
Compaction cycle is actuated by pushing down the two levers on right hand side of rear door, at the same time.
This control of compaction cycle mechanically actuated is of high reliability.
This particular design gives:
- maximum compaction ratio,
- a clean hopper,
- minimal operator’s risks due to positioning of sweeping plate in relation to hopper’s
edge.
The refuse compactor could be equipped with a hydraulic bin lift.

2-CONSTRUCTION
The materials used for the construction of the tailgate are of same kind as those used for the SITA 6000 which robustness made its reputation.
The body’s structure has been completely redesigned in order to make it lighter. The shape and the position of the stiffening plates ensures a great resistance in flexing ans mainly for local pressures.
The surface protection, most particularly well finished, is ensures by a primary coat and AR. 1 coat before assembling and two finishing coats.

3-HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS OF COMPACTION SYSTEM
The main features are:
 an hydraulic vane pump which can be either crankshaft mounted of full torque
P.T.O. rear mounted on the gear box. The pump automatically feeds the valve
mounted in the tailgate.
 an hydraulic oil tank with a capacity of about 120 liters, equipped with a suction strainer, a return filter and a level signal. A valve placed at the front part of the body actuates the opening of the rear door and the ejector plate.
 a particularly quiet vane type pump.
 rigid hydraulic tubing and flexible hoses correctly sized reduce loading loses, over
heating and noise when operating at maximum loads.
A very high compression ratio has been obtained giving high payload and quiet operating conditions

4-HORIZONTAL DISCHARGE
Opening for discharge of refuse is carried out by lifting the tailgate with two single acting rams.
Rear door has mechanical automatic locking and unlocking. It is fitted with a rubber seal preventing leakage of fluid refuse.
The unloading of the refuse collector is ensured by an ejector plate which pushes refuse out of the body with one hydraulic ram double effect on one extension.
This system facilitates unloading and ensures a highly stable machine when discharging.

5-SAFETY DEVICES
The hydraulic system is designed to by-pass a pump when overloading all the system. It is an hydraulic operated system.
The different systems are as follows.
 controls cab and rear mounted for emergency stopping of the loading mechanism,
 in the event of a P.T.O being fitted, a roller micros witch operated by the
clutch pedal switches the circuit off when disengaging the clutch,
this is to facilitate gear changing
 over rev. speed limiter actuates a vacuum valve and put (thus dumping the oil back
to tank) when engine rev. reaches about 1400 rpm..
