Extra Credit:

Extra credit assignments will be available throughout the school year. However, a student will only be allowed to complete five extra credit assignments for additional points.

Make-up Work/ Late Work:

You will have 3 days to complete and turn in any make-up work. After 5 days the assignment is late. A letter grade will be taken off for everyday an assignment is not turned in.

**Grades will be posted daily on the Power School website. The majority of assignments will be posted to bertie.schoology.com. Please be sure to check both of these sites daily!

Rules and Expectations:

I have one main expectation of my students and classes: manage yourself. My motto is “Manage yourselves or I will manage you.” This means that as an individual you need to be thinking about your actions before you act. It also means that if you need to assist someone in managing themselves you do so respectfully by reminding them to be quiet, showing them where work goes, etc. I have a routine that we follow to make it easier for my classrooms to manage the following expectations:

  • Be in class on time (you will be tardy if you’re not in your seat when the bell rings)
  • Be awake and alert during class
  • Turn in assignments complete and on time in the appropriate place
  • Take responsibility for necessary make-up work and late work
  • Bring all necessary materials to class each day
  • Have an open mind and willingness to learn
  • Keep the classroom and lab area clean
  • Follow lab rules and procedures during cooking labs (These will be reviewed, posted online, and tested at a later date)
  • Cell Phones will be out of sight the moment of entering the classroom.

The natural environment of a hands on learning classroom like Food and Nutrition I class is often noisy and somewhat controlled chaos. Due to this natural environment I expect students to follow the routine we learn the first week of class so that the learning environment will be enjoyable for everyone. It is also impertinent for everyone’s safety that all students’ actions are safe and respectful.

Disciplinary Procedures:

If a student takes actions that are disrespectful or unsafe for his/her self, peers, or teacher they will be disciplined accordingly.

  1. Student will be verbally warned about inappropriate behavior (verbal or non-verbal).
  2. Student will stay after class to discuss their behavior and/or actions.
  3. Student will be will lose a kitchen lab and given an alternative assignment.
  4. Parents will be notified (email, phone call, or parent teacher conference).
  5. Administrative action.

Note: At any time disciplinary steps may be skipped due to the behavior of the student.

I ______have read and understand the course syllabus. I will respect the rules and procedures that Miss Snyder has in place for the classroom.
