Holiday Invitational Basketball Tournament

SAC Holiday Tournament Information:

•Tournament is open to athletic (SELECT) 4th, 5th and 6th grade teams only; the tournament is not open to AAU teams. Sycamore Athletic Club Board reserves the right to accept or reject each tournament application.

•Teams will be selected on “FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVE” basis, so mail your forms in early. (Dec. 13 is final date).

•All teams are guaranteed a minimum of 3 games in a pool play format. Winners of pool play will advance to the championship round.

•Team and individual trophies (maximum of 12 per team) will be awarded to the first and second place teams in the championship round.

•Once the tournament schedule is published, we will not be able to accommodate schedule changes. Please inform us of any potential conflicts by noting the dates and times on your tournament application, and we will schedule your pool play games so that there are no conflicts. We are unable to change the dates and times of the championship round games.

•The cost for the tournament is $200 payable by check or money order to Sycamore Athletic Club.

•Mail the completed application and check to: Greg Rugani, 7892 Mitchell Farm Lane, Cincinnati, OH45242. Player Release of Liability form must be handed in prior to playing your first game.

•Tournament games will be played from December 19, 2006, through December 30, 2006.

•Games will be played at BlueAshRecreationCenter at 4433 Cooper Road, SycamoreHigh School at 7400 Cornell Road, E.H. Greene at 5200 Aldine Dr., or SycamoreJunior High School at 5757 Cooper Road.

Holiday Invitational Basketball Tournament

Tournament Rules:

  1. OHSAA rules except as noted below.
  2. All games consist of six (6) minute quarters. Overtime is two (2) minutes during pool play and three (3) minutes during championship round play.
  3. Each team is allowed five (5) timeouts per game consisting of three (3) full time outs and two (2) thirty second timeouts. One (1) additional full timeout is allowed for each overtime period.
  4. Players must be in the fourth grade or under to play in the fourth grade tournament, fifth grade or under to play in the fifth grade tournament, or in the sixth grade or under to play in the sixth grade tournament. Questions of player eligibility are determined at the sole discretion of the Sycamore Athletic Club (SAC) Board.
  5. Only protests concerning ineligible players will be considered. Protests must be filed with the Tournament Chairman within 30 minutes of completion of the game being protested, along with a $100 protest fee and the SAC Board, whose decisions are final, will consider the protest. If the protest is allowed, the $100 fee will be refunded.
  6. Foul lines are as follows:

•4th grade is nine (9) feet (bottom of circle).

•5th grade is twelve (12) feet.

•6th grade is regular foul line of fifteen (15) feet.

  1. For the 5th and 6th grades full court pressure is permitted until a 10 point difference exists. For the 4th grade, full court pressure is permitted only in the last 2 minutes of the game.
  2. In the event of a tie in determining the winner of pool play, the following tiebreakers will be used in order:

•Head-to-head competition

•Least points allowed

•Total margin of victory (maximum of 15 points per game)

•Total points scored

•Coin flip

  1. It is expected that each age group will consist of 3 pools with the winner of each pool advancing to a semifinal game with a wild card team. The wild card team is the one with the next best record. The tie breaker for the wild card is as follows:

•Smallest margin of loss to winner of same pool (if all pool winners are 3-0)

•Total margin of victory (max. of 15 points) if any pool winner has a 2-1 record

•Least points allowed

•Total points scored

•Coin flip

  1. If both teams have same color Jerseys and 1 team has reversible or another color, they will change regardless of Home vs. Away.
