/Required Personal Protective Equipment: CSA approved safety glasses or goggles, CSA approved steel-toed footwear, 100% cotton coveralls preferred, and hearing protection required in confined space/area and/or per RETSD policy.
GENERAL NOTES: No lighters, matches or cell phones are allowed in the shop area. Long necklaces, bracelets and rings should be removed. Long hair should be tied back. Strings and hoods hanging from pullovers/sweaters should be removed or tucked inside of coveralls.
Job Safety Analysis:

1) Ensure that flammable or combustible materials are moved away before starting work. Make sure work surface is clean and dry.
2 / Jobs typically requiring a vise are: hammering, chiseling, grinding, buffing, cutting, punching, etc. / Eye injury, projectiles.
Foot injury drop object on foot.
Hand injury, cuts, impact, penetration, and compression. / Control Classes. Students are required to wear CSA approved safety glasses and/or goggles when on shop floor. Students are required to wear CSA approved footwear (steel-toed boots/shoes) when on shop floor. Where any object handled could possibly cause cuts, punctures or abrasions to hands, appropriate gloves will be worn. (Exception: where rotating machinery presents a greater hazard of entangling gloves).
3 / Keep hands, hair and loose clothing clear of all moving parts. Remove all jewelry. / Hair ripped from scalp. Clothes and or jewelry become entangled in moving parts. Bruising, cuts, possible amputation. / Tie back hair. Ensure clothing is not loose at sleeve. Remove all jewelry.
