Swim INDY Summer Splash

Team Banquet

Thanks to all the Swim INDY families and swimmers that came to the team banquet on Saturday, and thanks for all your donations. It’s good to spend some time together away from the pool and with such a large turnout, it’s clear our team is growing and that we have new swimmers and families building relationships that will make Swim INDY a fun place for kids to swim for years to come. Also, special thanks to Van Birrer for allowing the club to use his church for the festivities, and congratulations and thanks again to Jim and Rhena Crane for their years of service to Swim INDY.

FAST Meet

Entries for our first meet – the FAST Tiger Prowl (May 18-20 @ Fishers H.S.) are now closed. This meet was very popular, as the pool will be the host of Age Group State this summer. Meet information is available on the club website, and a copy of our entries will be available ASAP. Speaking of big and busy meets …

Swim INDY Summer Splash

Our club has a big event coming up in June, as we host our Summer Splash Invitational on June 8-10 at Brownsburg H.S. This meet, based on emails and phone calls from other clubs and some surfing of team websites, is going to be VERY popular and as a result, very big. Big meets fill quickly and in order to ensure that our meet operations folks have an accurate picture of how many kids will swim, we need all of our swimmers to signup up on the club website ASAP. Of course, this is a team function and we need everyone’s help to make it work. But all of our kids are strongly encouraged to participate in this meet in our own pool. Again, it should be a big and fast meet and a great opportunity for our club! Please sign your swimmers up on the club website for the Summer Splash ASAP.

Parent Meeting

The club’s first parent meeting of the long course season will be Tuesday, April 24. On that date, we will offer one practice at one location for all swimmers – 4-6 p.m. @ Brownsburg H.S. The meeting will begin shortly after the conclusion of practice, approximately 6:15 p.m. The intent is to get all the kids (older, younger, new, experienced, etc …) in a practice setting together so they associate with each other as teammates. We will alternate locations of these parent meetings in the future between Brownsburg and Ben Davis. The first, however, is at Brownsburg on April 24. This meeting is intended to be a brief but informational exchange between the coaching staff and the parents, and there will also be time for questions at the end. Ideally, each swimmer would have a parent representative on hand, even if you are not able to attend practice.

Team Bowling Activity

As the school year winds down, summer fun approaches fast. We hope you’ll want to spend some of that fun time with your teammates and in an effort to bring everyone together, the coaching staff is planning a team bowling activity (for parents and swimmers) at the Brownsburg Bowling Center, scheduled for Saturday, May 5. More information will be distributed as we get closer to the date, however management at the bowling center will give us a discount on games played and reserve lanes for us based on our group size. We will most likely have a signup sheet and / or online signups available in the very near future. So, get your bowling shoes on and plan to have some fun at the lanes with your fellow Swim INDY families!

Congratulations

On Sunday, our Bronze and Silver Group coach Linda Partlow was inducted into the Indiana High School Swimming & Diving Hall of Fame. Linda was a 5 time individual state champion for BenDavisHigh School, and helped lead the Giants to 3 team championships in her time there. She was part of 120 inductees in the first inaugural class, a great honor that is much deserved. Congratulations Coach Linda!
