Change to larger needles Cont in stst (starting with a k row) 20 rows ending with a p row.

Armhole shaping & divide for back opening

Cast off 2 sts k 17 sts turn

1st row K4 p to end

2nd row k1 k2 tog tbl k to end

Repeat last2 rows until 8 sts remain, then 1st row again (8sts) work button hole on 5th row as follows k1,k2 tbl k to last 4 sts k2tog yon k2

Place 8sts on a stitch holder

Rejoin to remain 18 sts cast on 3 sts at back opening

1st row p to last 4sts K4

2nd row k to last 3 sts k2tog k1

Repeat last 2 rows until 10 sts remain –

Front

Work as back until armhole shaping

1st rowK1, K2 tog tbl, k to last 3sts k2tog k1

2nd row purl

Repeat the last 2 rows until 25 sts

Shape neck

Next row, K1, K2tbl k 7 turn and work on this side only. De1st at neck edge on next 4 rows at the same time cont to dec at raglan edge on very alt row as before until 3sts rem, dec at neck edge on next row k 2 tog.

With RS facing slip centre 5 sts onto a holder and work on rem 10 sts reversing all shapings as first side

Sleeves (both alike)

On size 11 needles cast on 23st and rib 6 rows inc 6 sts on last row (30sts)

St st24 rows

Shape armholes – cast off 2st at the beg of next 2rows

Next row k1 k2tog tbl, k to last 3 sts k2 tog k1.

Next row purl, repeat the last 2 rows until 7sts on a stich holder..

Neckband (with RS facing starting with L back)

Knit across (10-LB) (7-LS) pick up 8sts from both sides of fronts 5 sts (7-RS) (8-RB) (53sts). Rib 5 rows working 2nd button hole on the 3rd row. Cast off.

PANTS

Left leg

Cast on 35stswith smaller needles and work 6 rows in rib on last row inc 6sts along the row (41sts)

Change to larger needles Work 28 rows stst

Shape crotch

Cast off 2sts at the beg of next 2 rows then dec 1 st at each end of next 2 rows, work 14 rows in stst ending with a purl row

Shape back

Next row k 12 turn

St st 2 rows then work 4 rows in rib cast off

Right leg – work as left leg but work 11 rows before shape back

Using smaller needles and M cast on 63sts. Inc 1st on last row

Work 4 rows in rib, change to larger needles, work18 rows in stst

Shape Crown

1st row: k3, sl1, k2tog, psso, * k5sts, sl1, k2 tog, psso, rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.

2nd and alt rows: purl

3rd row: k2, sl1, k2tog, psso, * k3, sl1, k2 tog, psso, rep from * to last ststs, k1

5th row: k1, sl1, k2tog, psso, * k1, sl1, k2 tog, psso, rep from * to end.

7th row: * sl1, k2 tog, psso, rep from * to end

Break off yarn, thread through remsts, draw up fasten off securely.

Hat with ear flaps

Work 2 ear flaps as follows - With smaller needles cast 3stst and rib 3 rows, inc 1st at each end of next and the fol alt rows until 11 sts – for ties platt 25cm in wool.

Main hat

Cast on 9sts, rib across 11 sts, cast on 17 sts, rib across 11sts of second ear flap, cast on 9sts. (57sts)

Rib 4 rows - Change to larger needles and work 12 rows of pattern plus 1 to 8.

Shape Crown

1st row: k1 * k2 tog, k5 rep from * to last 2 sts k2

2nd and alt rows: purl

3rd row: k2 tog, k4 rep to end

5th rowk2 tog, k3 rep to end

7th row: k2 tog, k2 rep toend

9th row: k2 tog, k1 rep toend

11th row: k2 tog, toend , break of yarn thread through remsts draw up, fastern off

Bootees

Using smaller needles cast on 24 sts, work 4 rows in rib, Change to larger needles,

work 6 rows stst for the sock style rib 14 rows and stst 2 rows in main colour

Next row: k17 turn

Next Row: p10 turn

St st 5 rows on these 10 sts

Next row: p2 (p2 tog p2) twice (8 sts), break off yarn

With right side facing rejoin yarn to inside of these 7 sts, pick up and k 5 sts evenly along right side edge, knit across 8 sts, pick up and knit 5 sts evenly along left side edge and knit across 7 sts left on a needle (32 sts)
