Unit Plan Theme: En la Escuela
Lesson Plan Topic: Introduction to the chapter: vocabulario en contexto
Essential Question for Lesson: ¿Quéesesto y dóndeestá en la clase?
Language & Level: Spanish, Level 1 (8th grade)
Chapter 2B Objectives:
  • Students will be able to recognize both through reading and in listening the vocabulary as it pertains to our new chapter.
  • SWBAT recognize items in and around the classroom.
  • SWBAT identify (verbally and in writing) where objects are located using prepositional phrases.
  • SWBAT understand and compare cultural perspectives on school.

MLI.INT: Students will interpret the target language through reading and listening activities.
MLI.P: Students will present their understanding of the target language both orally and in writing.
MLI.IP: Students will engage in interpersonal communication using the target language. (Ie., Q&A greetings and farewells. / 1. Greeting: Greet students in TL as they enter the classroom, ask students to take their seats.
Teacher greets students and asks how they are doing in the TL. Random questions (small talk) in the TL for oral comprehension checks.
2. Opening/Warm-up:
Vocabulario en uso: students complete activity 4 on p. 104
3. Work session:
Listening game:
Teacher tells class in TL, “Pensando de un objeto…” and describes where the object is located. Students guess the name of the object in the TL.
Students write five sentences according to what the teacher just modeled, describing the location of five separate objects around the room. Students share sentences, class tries to guess the object (all in TL).
4. Closing/Homework:
