Sutton Middle School Science Fair 2016-2017 Timeline
ALL Projects (Presentation, research paper, and Log book) are due in class Friday November 11, 2016.
Class Science Fairs will be held during the week of November 14 to determine winner to participate in SMS Science Fair.
Class Winners will be announced Friday November 18, 2016.
SMS Science Fair will be held in the Community Room on December 2, 2016

Week of September 6, 2016 / · Student Checklist (Form 1A)- must be typed (5 points)· Research Plan/Project Summary- must be typed (25 points)
· Risk Assessment Form (Form 3)-must be typed (5 points)
Week of September 12, 2016 / Facilitators will conference with students to determine if projects need to be presented to IRB AND appropriate forms will be completed i.e. Human Participants Form (Form 4); Form 1 will be completed by Learner and Facilitator at this time.
Week of September 19, 2016 /
· Approval Form 1B should be complete and signed by parent and learner
· composition books should be in class for logbook set upWe will set up log books in class to begin experiments.

September 23 (Friday) / Begin Science Fair Experiment! J

September 30 (Friday) / · Abstract DUE-see form- must be typed (10 points)
· Notecard Check #2 (must have a minimum of 20 notecards and 5 source cards TOTAL-put name on each card OR place in small Ziploc bag with name on it) (10 points)
· Begin writing research paper (if you haven’t
started already-see sample on website)October 14 (Friday) / Log Book Check #1
· Should include problem, hypothesis, procedure, and materials listed
· Data should be recorded throughout experiment
Work on adding information from log book to PowerPoint Template
October 21 (Friday) / Rough Draft of paper is due can be typed or handwritten We will peer review in class.
October 28 (Friday) / Forms Check #2
Any forms that have not been turned in should be turned in WITH your project on Friday 11/9
· Use ISEF rules wizard OR ask your science teacher if you need any OTHER forms such as the Human Informed Consent Form; Qualified Scientist Form; or Human Participants Form (for surveys, etc).
November 4 (Friday) / · PPT, Research Paper, and Log Book should be complete
· Sign up for Class Science Fair Presentation Slot
November 11 (Friday) / All Projects (PPT, Research Paper, and Log Book) are due!
