Sustainability Agreement

The Performing Arts Department and Theatre Technicians are committed to a sustainable approach with regards to props, costume, set and other effects as used in student performances. We also look to ethically sourcing all theatre set, props and effects. This is in line with the University of Winchester Environment Strategy

Put simply:

Anything you use as set, props, costume or dressing for your show should be ethically sourced and REUSED or RECYCLED after your production

*  All effects, props and dressing must be removed from the theatre spaces promptly after your performance and will be reprocessed to the best available place or home.

*  Any effects, props or dressing that can be reused will be either given to charity shops, freecycled or reused with your own environment.

*  All effects, props or dressing that cannot be reused or donated will be taken from the venue and recycled appropriately. This includes fabrics, plastic, paper and all other recyclable materials.

*  Unless there is a prior arrangement the recycling bins on site are not to be used for large quantities of waste.

*  Any effects props or dressing that need to be recycled under the Waste Electrical and Electronic EquipmentDirective (WEEE Directive) will be dealt with accordingly and recycled safely.

*  Nothing is allowed to be left in the venues after your performances. All items must be removed within your get out time.

For reference:

Winchester Household Waste Recycling Centre, Bar End; includes an Emmaus Charity that accepts furniture and household goods for resale. WHWRC accepts items that fall under the WEEE Directive.

www.freecycle.org ; an online community for both posting items on offer and for wanted items.
