‘Developing a sustainable professionalism in surveying & relevant education in the Commonwealth’

The conference will incorporate a number of workshops each introduced by a keynote speaker:

Workshop 1 (Land Administration & urbanisation)

Workshop 2(Sustainable construction practices)

Workshop 3(Infrastructure development & financing)

We shall run parallel sessions if we receive sufficient papers.

  • Geomatics, measurement and delineation of assets in landed property.
  • Legislation, rights, tenure, and management of landed property.

  • Trends and changes affecting land use, extraction & conservation of resources including cultural factors.
  • The role of public/private investment and subsidies.
  • Landed property use and investment strategies, valuation & taxation
  • Communications and business.
  • Change, and its effects on landed property values.
  • Sustainable design and construction.
  • Measurement of existing property, and proposed new developments.
  • Cost forecasting, and assessment of present and future viability and value of development.
  • Procurement practices and documentation for

construction contracts, cost control of construction projects, and final cost reconciliation.

  • Arbitration.
  • Education and training for Surveyors.
  • Curriculum content and the role of practice in the formation of the Surveyor.
  • The role of Continuing Professional Development.

This prestigious international conference will be of interest to Surveyors in Construction, General Practice, Planning & Development and Geomatics and also of interest to other professionals and students involved in the management of land property and construction.

This conference will qualify for up to 9 hours CPD. Delegates will be awarded a certificate of attendance.

Keynote addresses will highlight ethical standards, land administration & development, property valuation & taxation and sustainable construction. Technical well researched 2500-3000 word papers are invited and will be peer reviewed if requested. Abstracts of no more than 300 words should be submitted to the CASLE Secretariat, Email address: as soon as possible and no later than 1st May 2018. Full papers are required by 31st August 2018

Accompanying persons:

We hope to have a programme for accompanying persons. There will be a nominal fee of £60 for lunch, refreshments and the conference dinner. Any tours or technical visits will be extra.

Students:

We hope to offer a limited number of conditional bursaries to cover student attendance fees.
