July Dinner Meeting-July 20th 6 PM:

The dinner meeting will be at the Grand Traverse Pie Co., which is also a fundraiser. The Club will receive 15% of the total sales which includes any item purchased (breakfast, lunch, dinner and pies) that day. The coupon must be given prior to the purchase being rung up, so the Club can receive credit and is good only at the 41640 Ann Arbor Rd., Plymouth location on July 20th. (Coupons are NOT to be handed out to individuals entering the restaurant.) Check the Club’s website www.plymouthcantoncivitans.com for coupons to pass out to family and friends. The more you pass out the more money we raise!

Fellowship starts at 6 PM with dinner at 6:30 PM

Business Meeting August 3rd:

Business meeting will be held on August 3rd at 6:30 PM at the Salvation Army.

UPCOMING EVENTS

The next business meeting is on July 13th at the Lyon Township Fire Station Community Room located at 58800 Grand River Ave, New Hudson 48165 at 7 PM. Next dinner meeting is July 27th at McHattie’s Park (300 Dorothy St., which is off Lafayette/Pontiac Trail between 9 and 10 Mile Rds.) This will be the Club’s first picnic for members, friends and family.

Currently have 10 charter members and need to get more individuals involved in order to get this club chartered as soon as possible.

Ford Rd. Cleanup-July 15th:

Meet in the parking lot of Marie Scramblers at 8 AM to help with the cleanup. Afterwards the group will be having breakfast at Marie Scramblers. Contact Gary (734-459-1896) or Bill (734-347-0020) if you can help

Plymouth Community Council on Aging Christmas in July-July 28th: This will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 PM celebrating Christmas in July with prizes given for individuals wearing beach wear attire with a hint of Christmas. Al will be making an appearance as Santa. Come on out and enjoy the fun. The Friendship Station is located at 42375 Schoolcraft Rd., in

Plymouth. If you need more information contact Kathy (734-459-1896).

Muck Fest August 5th:

It’s that time of the summer in which the Club gets to help out at this event and watch the participants roll and run around in the mud. Last year members helped distribute water, assembled and handed out the goody bags and checked gear. This is an all-day event which starts around 7:30/8AM and ends sometime after 2 PM. It’s held at the Willow Metro Park (23200 S. Huron Rd., New Boston, MI) which is exit 11 off I-275. Contact Gary (734-459-1896) or Bill (734-347-0020) if you can volunteer. Please do this as soon as possible as volunteer forms MUST be completed and turned in prior to the event.

Plymouth Community Council on Aging August Dog Days of Summer Picnic-August 8th: Volunteers (5-6) are needed to help serve the food to the participants. This will be a picnic style luncheon and the event goes from Noon to 3 PM. It will be held at the Plymouth Township Park located at 46640 Ann Arbor Trail and McClupha Rd. It will be held at the new pavilion at the top of the hill. Contact Kathy (734-459-1896) if you can help.

Salvation Army Ride for the Red Shield August 19th:

Volunteers are needed to help set up, serve snacks and beverages around 11:15 AM. This is only a stopping point this year for the riders. Contact Gary (734-459-1896) or Bill (734-347-0020) if you can volunteer.

NC District Convention September 15th-17th:

This will be held in W. Lafayette, IN., at the Four Points by Sheraton (Hotel) West Lafayette (1600 Cumberland Ave. W. Lafayette, IN., 47906, 765-463-5511). Hotel rooms cost $99 plus tax. Room reservation deadline is August 16th. Conference registration is $50, meals are $55 and the Friday night pizza party is $10 (and service project). Conference registration deadline is August 25th. Howell Balloon Fest:

Thanks to Bill, Terry, Bob (and wife Pat), Diana S., (and Russ) for working the parking. A total of $175 was raised.

Plymouth 4th of July Parade:

The Civitan International Research Center (CIRC) needs the pennies you save to help provide research to improve the lives of those affected by developmental

disabilities. The marvelous and wonderful things they are accomplishing are amazing! Keep saving pennies.

Plymouth Super Center Car Wash:

Thanks to Bill, whenever you take your car to have it washed at the Plymouth Super Center (located at 400 Ann Arbor Rd.), the Club will receive $1 and for every

Supreme wash the Club will receive $2. The owner of the car wash will pay the Club when $100 has been reached. The pin number to use is 7245-which represents the year the Club was chartered (1972) and the Club’s 45th anniversary (very clever Bill!). Cost for a car wash is $7 to $14.

If paying at the pump (for gas), then when entering the car wash you will need to enter both the receipt

code and the Club’s pin number of 7245 in order for the Club to get the donation for the car wash.

Great job Bill in setting up a new fundraiser for the Club. Make sure you give the pin number (7245) to friends and family to use at the Plymouth Super Center Car Wash in Plymouth!

If you were not at the 45th anniversary dinner, you were missed. We had 28 members, 7 past presidents along with 12 guests in attendance. Kathy Turnquist as the Club’s representative on the Michigan Civitan Foundation board introduced Bob Trevino administrator of the Foundation who presented Carol Swan with a Fellowship.
