Surrendering to God’s Good Pleasure
Defeat, weakness, vulnerability: these are some of the thoughts that may come to mind when we consider the word SURRENDER. For many, reasoning with the thought of giving up on something, even self, can be a frightening thought. However, surrendering to God is a sacrificial act of releasing oneself into the loving hands of the Living God and relieving oneself from the burdens we carry day to day. It’s much morebeneficial than surrendering in a sporting event or throwing in the towel in a boxing match. This surrender frees us from the borders of your own ability and the boundaries of our way of thinking and renders you limitless by the grace of God. God wants total surrender from His children.
He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. …” Matthew 22:37
This passage of scripture is tell us that God commands us to love God above our most pride possession and treasure(Matthew 6:21), above our own feelings(Galatians 5:16), and above our own knowledge and understanding ( Proverbs 3:5). As we become transparent (revealing ourselves) before God, He reveals Himself to us. Isn’t it interesting to see how, even from the beginning, God put a place for relationship with Him in mankind? Adam knew the presence of God. He did not mistake God’s presence with any of the many beauties surrounding him. Even after his disobedience, Adam heard God.
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:8
Our surrender is for the pleasure of God. HE has a plan for each one of us. God never wastes time nor action. Everything he does is with purpose. So, we all have purpose; and our purpose is for God’s good pleasure.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13
Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
God wants to get the glory out of all we do or say. In return, He gives us life everlasting and the Kingdom. What an awesome reward! Not only that! He gives us authority and power to speak with a creative voice, protection from our enemies, and so much more. His love is so great towards us. WHY NOT SURRENDER? What a great God!
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:32
When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 17:7
