On behalf of Orica, Northside Boardriders and Surfest Newcastle it gives me great pleasure to invite your surfboard club to participate in the Orica Team Challenge 2017.
The Orica Team Challenge is hosted by Northside Boardriders, open to surfboard clubs affiliated with Surfing Australia. Entry fee is $300 per team and total prize money of $10,000 is up for grabs.
Surfboard clubs can enter multiple teams.
Prize money breakdown
Winning Club - $5,000, Second Place - $2,000, Equal Third Place - $800 (x2),
Equal Fifth - $350 (x4). Money allocation could change if format changes.
Location: North Stockton Beach NSW
Dates: Saturday 4 February to Sunday 5 February 2017.
Time: 8am – 4pm daily

ORICA TEAM CHALLENGE 2017
CONTEST RULES
1) All competitors must be a member of their surfboard club’s team.
2) Team to consist of a maximum of five surfers and a manager.
Team to consist of a minimum of one junior surfer (18 years or under as at 31/12/2017)
3) Team to select only three competitors to surf each round.
Each round must feature at least one junior surfer per team
4) Teams will a surf a minimum of two rounds before elimination rounds
5) Surfers can only surf for their nominated teams
6) Each competitor scored on maximum three waves with second wave being the powerwave (scored double points)
7) Only one member per team in surf at a time
8) After the start of each heat, each team member must tag each other in official area before entering surf
9) Heat Time – 40 mins (depending on conditions heat times can change at direction of contest director)
10) In the event of one Club having two teams in the same heat, if one of the teams is deemed to intentionally interfere with another team from a different club, then both teams of the club causing the interference will be penalized 7 points. There will be no warning given. The club interfered with will be allocated 5 bonus points.
11) Only the nominated club manager can talk to the contest officials in regards to the contest and rulings.
12) The Head Judges decision is final
